This caught my eye too. We're definitely working on dealing some of our backcourt glut, one way or another.

The amount of whining is ridiculous. There was only so much the guy could do with a #5 pick in a weak draft combined with a bunch of unwanted junk.

PG) Arenas - James - Critt
SG) Foye - Young - DMac
SF) Butler - Miller - DMac
PF) Jamison - Blatche
C) Haywood - McGee
Why would Foye start? Miller is the perfect "glue" guy on offense. He rebounds, distributes, and can make the open shot. He's exactly what this team needs alongside the Big Three on offense. I'm guessing Foye backs up Arenas and Stevenson is used because of his defense and chemistry with the existing roster. I actually think Young will be the odd man out.
Haywood/McGee
Jamison/Blatche
Butler/McGuire
Miller/Stevenson
Arenas/Foye
That's what I see the rotation as. Great size almost everywhere and Flip should be able to use that length defensively with his zone schemes.

Salaries for next year:
Miller - $9.8
Foye - $3.6
Etan - $7.4
Songaila - $4.5
OPec - $1.4
It's almost exactly salary neutral. We do save the $2.7~ million (x2 because of the luxury tax) of the fifth pick, but that's it. So not a lot of help there.
And everyone in the deal expires after this year except Songaila, who will make about $4.8 million the next season. I suppose we did shave that off, along with the $3 million we'd be paying for our pick, for about $7.8 million total. The thing is though, unless we intend on letting Foye and Miller walk, that money is likely going to be sucked up by resigning them.
All in all, there's really not much financial gain out of this deal at all that I can see.

I mean, I get that his antics are embarrassing, but his year last year needs to be completely written off given the injury he played with. He can help this team plenty in his proper role as a 15-20 MPG defender (even if he's starting to set a tone).
He's a totally decent 8th or 9th man.
