evening workouts can tend to charge you up and make it hard
to sleep. I have that problem with evening swim workouts.
try to build endurance on the bike. You'll strengthen the knee
while you're doing it. Six miles is a start but I couldn't stand that
much on a stationary bike. Talk about boring, that makes lap
swimming sound exciting.
I've read/heard that stationary bikes are not quite as beneficial
for the same time period as a real bike. Get thyself outside!
Try for 10. You can do it. Pace yourself. PS wear a helmet BTW.
It's simply the smart thing to do.
I rode to work again making Mon-Tues a back 2 back. Planning
on tomorrow off, then go for another b2b on Thu-Fri for a 190 mile week.
Two problem, Jimbo. I'm not a very accomplished bike rider and I live in a pretty busy urban neighborhood, so outside isn't a viable option for me. As for distance, it's not that I couldn't go ten miles yesterday (I could) it's just all about having enough time! My life is such that my workouts are designed to get me the most -- or a reasonable-- amount of benefit in a short time. I'm full of excuses, I know.
The boredom thing doesn't bother me. I can either watch TV or listen to music that I'm into and the time flies by for me. So I think I'm stuck on the stationary bike or maybe the eliptical until the knee calms down or I give in and go to the doc.
