LeBron to Clippers ??

Post#1 » by donemilio21 » Mon Aug 24, 2009 12:06 am

So I had this dream last night (unusual, I know) where I was watching LeBron James at Staples center in a clipper uniform.
Is there a possibility to make him a clipper next june? I mean do we have a shot? both salary wise and James considering playing for the Clipps
Baron-Gordon-LeBron-Blake-Kaman thats a championship team right there
What do you guys think?

If the Clippers are serious about offering Lebron a contract, then they need to clear more salary. I don't think we would be able to offer Lebron what he's looking for if the salary cap is going to drop next summer. So either unloading Kaman, or Baron for expiring contracts would help us fulfill that goal. I don't know much about the salary cap, so others can feel free to add and explain it better.

As for Lebron on the Clippers. That would be a dream come true.

PG-Baron Davis
SG-Eric Gordon
SF-Lebron James
PF-Blake Griffin
C-Marcus Camby/DeAndre Jordan (Assuming Kaman is traded for Expiring Contracts)

That starting 5 would probably be the most explosive lineup in the league.

Nice to see people having dreams about the LeBron sweepstakes.

I don't even want to entertain the idea of LeBron coming here. It just won't happen-- plus, I wouldn't wanna deal with all the bandwagon fans. He'll cause a lot of drama in 2010, but he'll stay in Cleveland.

You'd be surprised. We have an extremely talented roster. Plus LA is just as big of a marketplace as New York. The Laker/Clipper rivalry would be bigger then ever because it would be Kobe vs LeBron. Which will result in Donald Sterling constantly jizzing over ticket sales.

I want King James to stay in Cleveland (which I'm almost certain he will), but I'd gladly accept him if he wanted to jump ship. There's something that he could do here that would be a huge attribute to his legacy, and that would be saying he made the Clippers a championship team.

He can only get the max contract amount from any team he signs with. It has gone down this year just like the cap and will probably go down again next year. It will be close to $16,000,000.00 so we will be able to pay that. The only thing that The Cavs can offer him is 10.5% compared to 8% annual raises that any non Bird rights team can offer him. The Cavs are the only team that can offer a six year contract while all the other teams are limited to a five year contract. Keep in mind we have options on Collins and Thornton, if it meant getting Lebron I think most of us would accept the team not exercising their option on either or both players.

We should look to trade Kaman/Baron/Thornton/Telfair for expiring contracts/picks if we want a legitimate shot at LeBron.

LeBron coming to LA to share the spotlight with Kobe? I think not. But imagine the 2 best players in the world playing under one roof.

Lebron said he'd play against Kobe every night if he could and that he likes the challenge of playing against the best. Somewhat encouraging to hear as a Clippers fan but not something worth getting all excited about just yet.

LeBron would have to be convinced that Sterling will be willing to pay the luxury tax in order to surround LeBron with as much talent as possible. There is no question that the Knicks are willing to have the highest payroll. Do you think Sterling is willing to have a top 3-4 payroll?

Not happening. LeBron would play overseas before coming here.

I don't mind if we try to get him but I doubt he would come to us.
I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

You do realize he plays for the Crappy Cavs. Clippers at least have the L.A. market. There is a chance LBJ comes to L.A.

Think the greastest chance is if Kobe Bryant from here on to next offseason pi$$es Lebron james off to the degree where Lebron wants to take L.A. from Kobe. It's possible Kobe did take a shot at Lebron at his trainning with the whole" I wouldn't get dunked on in my own camp" thing. But that could be chucked up a friendly humor.

Something that would probably set Lebron off would be if Kobe said "Bron's best chances of getting a ring may be when I retire" which probably would cause Lebron to bolt from the East to the West and come at the Lakers hard.

If LeBron ever comes to L.A., it'll be on the purple and gold (like in your sig) and not the red, white and blue.
