countrybio... if you change your mind and you decide you want to finish your roster, go ahead.

other than that we are done with the selection process.

next we need to post our teams, starters, bench, minutes, expected stats, summary for picks, philosophy, style and why you think your team will win. keep it fairly simple.

then we can vote on the winner.

anyone have any suggestion on the best way to handle this part? i'm all ears.

I guess naturally it would be my turn anyway, I'm gonna type something down and will update it till I leave to offlineness.

Name of team: Dragons - just to make some rivalry with fat's dragonslaying coaching staff; therefore mascot has to be called Brandon

Motto: No Time Toulouse

Rookies: Ty Lawson, KC Rivers, Earl Clark

Foreign players: José Calderón, Raja Bell, Dirk Nowitzki

Main star: Dirk Nowitzki

Head Coach: Jerry Sloan

Funny fact: number of token white players - 5 (that looks like Utah, wait a minute we have Sloan)

Depth Chart:

Calderón/Sessions/Lawson
Johnson/Bell/Childress/Rivers
Wallace/Childress/Clark
Brand/Nowitzki/Lee/Anderson/Clark/Howard
Nowitzki/Lee/Przybilla

Nowitzki at center? I moved him there to make a space for anothet big man offensive threat, 4 and 5 are just numbers anyway - my coach is Sloan, he could deal with it he had similar types in Boozer-Okur in Utah.

Character of team - mostly players playing the right way, hard-nosed, bunch of well defending swingmen combined but efficient scorers at the same time paired with offensived big men who are backed up by good defensive minded rebounders. Experienced players with addition of promising (game wise) young players - Anderson had a great summer, Eaaaarl seems to have bandwagon here and Lawson is from UNC (and I have Brand to balance that).

Style of play
Playing the right way, sharing the ball, going inside combined with outside threats (Johnson,Nowizki) helping to spread the floor. Lots of second chances from offensive boards if needed.

Signature play
Calderón making a technical free throw. (caused by reaction to Raja or Juwan hard fouls or well aimed thrashtalk)

Community
KC Rivers (Charlotte) serves as role model for local kids. (OK you got me I just opened Bobcats' draft central and picked first undrafted guy they worked out, those I wanted were already gone and I forgot Heytvelt)

Fats: To make this as simple as possible, I suggest you have everyone post their depth chart with no re-listing of players (i.e., let someone else figure out you intend Dirk to backup PF) and then post them all in a thread with the instructions to rank the squads 1-10 in order of likelihood to win the NBA title.

Just like the real NBA, 3 players should be designated reserves, since you can only suit up 12.

Here's mine:
Rondo/Chalmers
Ginobili/Curry
G.Hill/Kirilenko/Walton
P.Gasol/Jamison/C.Smith
Nene/Gortat

Coach: Phil Jackson

Reserves:
Lowry
A. Walker
Adrien

By the way, I put everyone's teams together using my rosters in NBA2k9. I do not have the rookies made and there is usually at least one or two others missing from each roster as well who were not in the game or CAP'd. That hurts some of us more than others, depending on how big a contribution you expected to get from your rookies and how good they probably would be in the game. I suppose Fats gets hit the hardest since Griffin is bound to be a beast.

Generally speaking I guessed about rotations, I tended to err on the side of game ratings rather than what you might have intended so everyone looks as good as possible (also, Yao Ming is completely removed... if he's not, Olajuwon's team is clearly best) That said:

1) Doc.end: Offense 91, Defense 81, Overall 90
2) Nugentrk: Offense 94, Defense 62, Overall 91
3) Paydro70: Offense 93, Defense 84, Overall 88
4) BigSlam: Offense 76, Defense 76, Overall 76
5) Waydownsouth: Offense 73, Defense 86, Overall 85
6) Amcoolio: Offense 94, Defense 81, Overall 83
7) Olajuwon34: Offense 100, Defense 67, Overall 70
8) e4nf6: Offense 81, Defense 79, Overall 79
9) Fatlever: Offense 80, Defense 84, Overall 82
10) jdm3: Offense 99, Defense 67, Overall 83
11) LoD: Offense 93, Defense 84, Overall 90
12) Countryboi: Offense 85, Defense 67, Overall 76

Note, of course, that the overall ratings make zero sense compared with each other or with the offense/defense numbers. I have no idea why that is, but that's just how 2k works. Particularly funny is Nugent's 94+62=91, especially compared to Olajuwon's 100+67=70.

Best Offense:
Olajuwon 100
jdm3 99
Nugent/Coolio 94

Best Defense:
Waydownsouth 86
Paydro/LOD/Fats 84

Best Overall:
Nugentrk 91
LOD/Doc.end 90
Paydro 88

Can you sim a season???

EDIT: Looking at some of those overall numbers, I'm guessing that 2K9 is putting a higher emphasis/percentage on the defensive number than the offensive number to find the overall.

My team is the worst offensive team overall, by a long shot, but the best defensive squad, yet my overall is 5th best in the league.

Olajuwon and jdm3 kill the offensive charts, but aren't great defensively, and their overall drops right back to mid pack.

Thank you for care but I won't accept your made up rules when I drafted according to my plan. Do what you have to and let others be. Thank you.

paydro's idea seems simple enough.

and the fact that we drafted coaches really should give others a good idea of your team's expected style.

There's definitely something else playing into overall other than those offense/defense numbers. I don't know what it is though, because it's not coaching (there doesn't seem to be any relationship there).

Doc.end, made up rules? It's just for clarity's sake that you only list a player once on your depth chart because he only exists once on your team. Is this list better or worse for a prospective voter than the listing I put up earlier?

Rondo/Ginobili/Chalmers/Curry
Ginobili/Hill/Curry/Walton
Hill/Kirilenko/Walton/Jamison
Gasol/Jamison/Kirilenko/Nene/Smith
Nene/Gasol/Gortat/Smith

The only other thing that makes sense is to actually list off the minutes each player gets, but that's a level of complexity that some of us probably don't want to get into, especially since there's math involved.

Padro is only showing offense and defense but there has to be a lot of other ratings that he did not include.

TJ Ford/Brandon Jennings/Jamaal Tinsley
Kevin Martin/Rudy Fernandez/Tyrese Rice
Mounte/Mike Dunleavy Jr./Dominic McGuire
David West/JaVale McGee
Chris Bosh/Mehmet Okur/Spencer Hawes

Do I really have to rejustify me and chab's picks? I wrote a novelette in each round.

Nash/Hinrich//////////Paulus
Iguodala/Iverson/Langdon
Artest/Flight White/Daye
Boozer/Scola/Pekovic
Wallace/Noah/Haywood

^Doesn't do the squad justice, since a lot of the role player guys are situational based picks to deal with potential problems. Nash, Iggy and Artest play a ton. Iverson, Hinrich, Scola and Noah get consistent minutes, with more or less coming game to game depending on matchups. Haywood is a super useful backup against the offensive threat c's. CHAMPIONSHIP

IT'S NOT WORTH WINNING IF YOU CAN'T WIN BIG!

Offense, defense, and overall is the only thing NBA2k9 offers for team ratings, nugent. I'm not holding out on you.

Coach = Slam

Offensive philosophy: Get the ball to Durant then get out of the way.

Defensive philosophy: If you get past the rangy D of Harden, Durant and Odom, your shot will get blocked.

Overall: Great floor general and vet leader in Kidd who looks to get others involved and push the pace. Great long range shooting with Mo, Harden and Miller. Great post scoring with Odom and Gasol. The ability to play all players in more than 1 position.

Plus I have Robert Horry – which should make me a lock for the rings.

PG: Kidd – Williams
SG: Harden – Miller
SF: Durant – Simmons - CDR
PF: Odom – Gasol – Horry
C: Chandler – Dalambert

Reserves:
Garbo
Knight
Harris

Here's my squad
Coach: Mike Dantoni
C: Andris Biedrins/Zydrunas Ilgauskas/Ryan Hollins
PF: Kevin Love/Marreese Speights/
SF: Anthony Randolph/Josh Smith/Bruce Bowen
SG: Devin Harris/Leandro Barbosa/Terrence Williams
PG: Deron Williams

Inactive
PJ Brown
Patty Mills
Dar Tucker

The above lineup doesn't really do my team justice. Big Z won't play much, the real back-up centers are Love and Speights. The real back-up PG is Devin Harris. Terrence Williams will play some SF. etc. etc.

I imagine you guys get the idea but I'll say it again. This is the greatest running team ever assembled. I also have a decent argument to have the best individual player overall in Deron Williams.

There is no need to make rules about how to present your team when you couldn't count with them during picking.

str8 up derogatory would like to point out the fact that paul pierce and carmelo anthony represent the best 1-2 scoring punch. both players are proven playoff scoring machines capable of carrying the offense in the 4th quarter getting clutch baskets with defenders climbing all over their backs.

:)
