OT- Frustrating Aspect of This Board

Post#1 » by TO4ever » Thu Dec 17, 2009 2:15 am

Is there any way to actually engage in meaningful debate on here with a moderator regarding the locking of a thread?

I say this not to stir the pot, as I am a rare contributor here and more of a longtime (years and years) lurker.

There is no way to PM a moderator, no way to respond in the thread, since it has been locked.

I am not one of those crazy "freedom of speach" pulpit pounders; I understand the need to moderate message boards due to their chaotic nature.

But I also don't appreciate being treated like a 13 year old fanboy when I start a thread designed to engage in discussion regarding a fundamental flaw in the way this team operates. Of course, my reaction to being treated like a 13 year old fanboy is to act like one.

So, that being said, how does one engage in such discussion with moderators, when PM's operate one way only. Or maybe, one simply is not meant to.

You created a thread that simply said

_______________________ (fill in the blank)

Nothing more.... That type of thread does not create discussion. I locked the thread noting that one line thoughts should be posted in the game thread.

You obviously didn't like that and decided to create a new thread to tell me that I suck. Not exactly a great way to make you're thoughts be known. If you wanted a better explanation you could of Emailed us, but after insulting me I no longer have time for you.

Act like an adult and I won't treat you like a 13 year old.

I do yes. Why? Because I see it as a fundamental flaw in our coaching system. It allows for zero personal defensive responsibility, while at the same time resulting in fundamental mismatches, either with quicker player against one of our bigs on the exterior, or with one of our smalls defending a big on the interior.

When it is the latter, we wind up rotating one of the perimeter players into the key to double down, thereby leaving shooters open in the corners. This is the reason that our "protect the paint" defence has been so susceptible to the three point shot, while at the same time not really protecting the paint, since it requires the help defenders to be more aware than it seems our players are capable of.

I personally would much rather see our guards manning up and trying to go through screens. Or, even if necessary, go under them for god's sake. While that may allow an outside shot, its better than an outside shot when all the bigs have been switched to the outside and are unable to rebound under the basket.

Now, why did I not just post that originally? Because I am not an egomaniac looking to write a basketball essay, but moreso because I enjoy reading what the smarter analytical posters on here have to say on basketball topics and was curious as to whether others have a simliar view without influencing their post or evoking a bunch of "true dats" or "i hear yas"

Oh and by the way, it was not based on just this game. I painfully watch every minute of every game that this talented unerachieving bunch plays, and this system has been exposed numerous times already this year.

See my response to your colleague. Just so you know, I looked for a way to conact you, but none were apparent.

I know you are on red high alert during blowouts to avoid the board from deconstructing. But does not a topic that includes the words "switch all screens" not imply that discussion of strategy was hoping to be discussed. It wasn't like I created a thread that said "raptors suck".

Anyhow, next time I know, don't create a topic for discussion unless you write at least one or two lengthy paragraphs on your own view before asking others for theirs.

OP,

The effort you put into this thread > compared to all of your post combined on this site.

P.S. Stop linking and asking for streams to NBA games.
