I've come to realize that if you don't end a post with the word "Thoughts?" it means that you're sure that you're right and you don't give a damn what anyone else thinks about what you know to be gospel.

Thoughts?

^
Or maybe when someone says "Thoughts?" they're questioning the existence of thoughts, other than their own. Knowing message boards, if you state something as if it is a certainty against which there can be no contrary position, you're guaranteed to hear a contrary position, if someone has the slightest interest in the subject.

Thoughts?

+1, too funny

great way to handle telemarketers

we used to get tons of calls apparently from India to my co-worker
from pharmacies. It didn't take long to get tired of this so I used
to answer the phone, DEA, pharmaceutical import division.
This had NO EFFECT on that.

Then I used to say she died when they asked for her and further
elaborate by saying she took some medicine that a doctor that
had never seen her prescribed. Even that had no effect.

Finally I got some Indian co-worker to tell what the equivalent
to John Smith in India would be. I'd identify myself that way, tell
them I was so happy they called and that I had financial secrets
that were guaranteed to make them so rich they could quit
their jobs as telemarketeers if they would just send me $50.
I would try to keep them on the phone as long as possible to
waste their time so maybe they'd red-flag the number. Even that
didn't work. I called some really nasty names by some of the callers.
I used fake accents and such. It was annoying but entertaining at times.

anyway I looked at this thread to post 2 things -

saw a great bumper sticker this morning on the way in.
It said "I used to be ducking stupid (but with a F) but then
we broke up". The surprise was when it turned out to be a
woman driving the car.

I recently joined a group on facebook that is promoting
a rule/law that would force congress-critters to wear
NASCAR style patches all over their clothing identifying their
contributors. Maybe that's something that cons and libs
can agree on. I dunno.

I'm trying to decide whether it's worth the extra $100 to stay on the Vegas strip. My plan was to go to Vegas on Super Bowl weekend, which is still the plan. I was also planning on staying at the Riviera but looking at the map of the strip, I didn't know it was that far away from everything else.

I stayed at Caesar's last summer, but that was with the company so I can't afford that. The only place that is reasonable and more or less on the strip is Hooter's Las Vegas. It's a half block away from the strip, whereas the Riviera was 3 miles away...which isn't bad if you live in DC...3 blocks is nothing. But in Vegas? That's a good 30-45 minute walk.

If you're going to Vegas, $100 shouldn't stop you from something. You'll probably end up spending that somewhere else anyways. Might as well be close to the action.

Are you talking $100 total? Or $100 a night for several days?

$100 total. It's actually less than that...$75. I know...why even ask, lol. Looking forward to going back though. 18 days last summer, but was there to work on a Convention so I didn't get to do much of anything besides drink and go to a couple of clubs.

Buddy..do it. Would even think twice about it.

Enjoy...

I spent a night at Hooters in Vegas and it seemed pretty damn far from the strip. Not to mention it sucked.

Pay the $100.

Did it? Hmm...it hasn't been getting good reviews either. I read one where it said it wasn't kid friendly. NO ****. It's the Hooters Hotel. I may be looking at the Excalibur now.

Yea, Hooters sucked. Was at the craps table when a guy went on about an hour roll. Now that was fun and profitable. As I recall it was out by the airport. Also, the Hooters chicks were the pits but out there every Casino has their Hooters girls and the last place you want to be one is at Hooters. And the room stunk.

Anyway, Rio is a decent option but while close to the strip you really need to take a cab. I had a hell of a lot of fun there.

The Wynn is one of the nicest places I've ever stayed and I hear prices are way down.

Stayed at the Venetian and while beautiful I hated it. More like the Smithsonian that a casino. No vibe. Way too pricey.

I've always read that the best deal for the money was the Hard Rock. Never stayed there but gambled and eaten there and it was cool.

When I went to Vegas 6 years ago to get married, I stayed at the Monte Carlo. Not the nicest place, but it was cheap and in the center of the action. Casino had all basics but certainly nothing lavish or much action besides gambling. Only reason I spent time in their Casino was to get my room and food comped.

I also stayed at the Luxor a couple of years ago when I missed my connecting flight (oops :) ). Casino and atmosphere were pretty good, but the room was pricey.
