Pretty much, but while we are on the topic, with the exception of scoring, what does Stoudamire do better then David Lee?

I DO NOT want Lee on this team. Please no to Lee. I take Amare over him any day. Lee is just not a winning player, he's a huge stat-padder.

Lee is a serious stat-padder but I wouldn't mind having him for the right price. He'd be a good complement to Lopez.

What exactly makes him a stat padder? The fact that he is a tremendous rebounder, has become an excellent passer and has gotten better and better on offense each season, especially his midrange jumper in pick and pops?

Watch him in garbage time and when the game is well-decided that's when he really starts going after things.

I'm not saying he's a bad player, he's done a good job of transforming himself from a one-trick pony into a defenseless multi-faceted pony, but he seems very stat conscious.

He did say "defenseless" :D

I think his stats are a little padded due to D'Antoni's system (and he does play an awful lot of minutes), but I think he's a legit 15 and 10 guy.

If the difference in salary between Lee and Amare is the equivalent of a MLE player or better (ie: $5.5 mil), you're probably better off going with Lee.

D'Antoni's system is no longer the SSOL and Lee is putting up his #'s in 37mpg.

Yea I'd rather give D.Lee 10mill a year than give Amare a max contract.Just look how good Humps plays next to Brook and Lee is a big upgrade over Humps.

ATL/BOS/NJ Deal.

We grab one of the Free Agents we want early and sign him to an extension. This will help us bring in another FA like a Bosh/Amare/LeBron since we will be in Newark (the arena is sick) but it's not as glamorous as Brooklyn will be. We lose Courtney Lee and guys we were going to let go anyway as well as two picks. But, we keep our goals in tact and grab a star that is under the radar when it seems like LeBron and Wade might not come here.

Boston gets rid of Ray Allen and grabs a nice pick, a young gun, and expirings. So they lose Allen for the rest of the year (who was playing poorly and on his last legs and gain Courtney Lee, the 30th pick, and expirings).

Atlanta grabs an expiring contract and two picks for Joe Johnson who they were going to lose most likely anyway. They were going to lose JJ anyway and they grab picks #24, #25, and a huge expiring, in addition to pick #26 they currently have. This way they don't lose anything if they realize JJ is gone and have major cap room and major assets in the first round. They can wheel and deal and build around Josh Smith, Bibby, Crawford, and the new blood they draft and bring in via Trades/FA.

This works for each team. What do you think?

Since this deal can't add picks.

The Nets send the Mavericks pick to Atlanta (2010 First round pick #24).

The Nets send the Celtics our second round pick this year which is essentially a 1st round pick (pick 30).

The Celtics send their first round pick to Atlanta mid twenties (#25).

My feeling is that Boston makes a deal similar to this since they don't feel like Ray Allen is anywhere near what he used to be or even close to what he was 2 seasons ago. Boston can just eat Ray's contract after the year and sign a FA. But, if they are playing like they are now they won't make it to the Finals or compete in the playoffs. KG is on his last legs, Allen looks like hes lost his touch and his athletic ability/lift, plus Pierce looks beat up as well. Pierce, Perkins, and Rondo are the future of that team. If they grab another pick and Courtney Lee as well as a trade exception they can build on that, make a deal, still be competitive this year and hope KG heals up for a title run next year.

If this deal goes down Boston could essentially have a lineup next year of:

C Perkins
PF Amare
SF Pierce
SG Lee
PG Rondo
6th KG - huge off the bench
Willie Warren - 2010 Draft
Eddie House

They would still have their core and bring in some youth to be compete for a title and for years to come...

Atlanta might make a deal like this because they know Joe Johnson will leave. It's been rumored for awhile. They grab a LARGER expiring contract in Ray Allen and two first round draft picks. Exceptions would probably be thrown in here too. The Nets have one in the Carter deal I believe worth about 1.8 million that they would send to ATL or BOS.

Atlanta would consider this deal to free up major cap space and grab the picks....

Their team in 2010 could look like (once they deal two of the 3 picks up for a top 5 pick and they sign Rudy Gay and Boozer):

C - Horford
PF - Josh Smith
SF- Rudy Gay
SG - Evan Turner (top 5 pick)
PG - Bibby
6th - Marvin Williams
7th - Haslem signed

That's a nasty squad especially in the East.

Well I felt a slight backlash in regards to the last trade being too strong in the favor of The Nets.

Why not try something simplier?

What are your thoughts on this deal?

http://www.realgm.com/src_checktrade.ph ... id=5428410

Nets trade Courtney Lee, 2010 1st round pick #24, the Vince Carter $3.8 million Trade Exemption, our 2012 2nd round pick, and the expiring contracts of Tony Battie and Jarvis Haye (combined for about $9 million saved in cap space + the trade exemption for a value of almost $13 million) for Kevin Martin.

Everyone's on the block for the right price. In all honesty he would have been coming off the bench anyway if Hayes never got hurt...

So I guess an expiring plus a first round pick (via Denver) wouldn't be enough to pry CDR away :/

Who owns the Denver pick? Memphis? How about we give you a first rnd pick and an expiring plus CDR.

CDR,Hayes and a Dallas 1st rnd pick for Rudy Gay :D
