Thrashers send Lehtonen to the Stars for a 4th rounder and a minor league d-man.

Pavelec is obviously the future in net for Atlanta. Lehtonen sure did never pan out. Dont know much about the kid they got, Visnevskiy, but he was a first rounder and was doing decent in the AHL.

He played great at times but injuries have killed his career to this point.

I'd have to think the Stars aren't done dealing since they now have three goalies.

Stars GM Joe Nieuwendyk is in Cedar Park at the Texas Stars game tonight and did not have much time to talk.

But he confirmed the Stars have agreed to the trade of Kari Lehtonen from Atlanta for Ivan Vishnevskiy and a fourth round draft pick in 2010, and are awaiting NHL approval.

Lehtonen has to come to Dallas for a physical, probably tomorrow.

When I asked if the team would carry three goalies, Nieuwendyk said that is the plan right now.

guess they are going with three :dontknow:

Of course a GM is going to say that now, he's not gonna say "Oh, there's clearly a logjam at goalie so we're gonna have to work that out."

I'd put good odds on Turco being elsewhere sometime in the near future.

Vishnevskiy has scored one goal in the NHL. This is it.

He's a pretty good offensive defenseman, but he's not very good on defense.

Great win by the Habs last night vs. the Caps! Snapping their streak! Habs seem to be streak snappers... Snap Vancouvers winning streak (win), snap Bostons losing streak (loss), and snap Washingtons 14 game winning streak (win). Mind you, Carey Price apparently wanted to make a game of it there in the 3rd... geez.

So did the defense, seeing as they let Laich get on a breakaway while the Canadiens had the PP.

Dominic Moore also get traded to Montreal for a 2nd rounder. I miss you already, Gainey.

Stars waived backup goalie Alex Auld, I guess Turco won't be going anywhere until after the season.
Preds re-signed Rinne 2 years $6.8 million, 3.4 million cap hit.

Turco-Lehtonen could be a nice combo if Lehtonen stays healthy

Wild sign Clutterbuck to a three year contract extension.
Calgary Flames signed Rene Bourque to a six year contract extension.

It could be a really good combo. I've always been a big fan of Lehtonen, he's just never been able to stay healthy.

Speaking of Turco, the guy stopped 49 shots against Washington. The team rallied with 3 goals in 6 or so minutes in the third and got the shootout victory. Dominating.

Should have gotten a suspension but not a surprise considering Mike Richards did the exact same thing and didn't get any suspension.

Nicklas Backstrom just made a great defensive play and schooled Brent Seabrook for the GWG in overtime.

Cristobal Huet is horrible.

Washington stole that.

Pretty much.

And all is not well in Hawk Land right now.
