Riley will add a 2nd First Round Pick to get the deal done or recruit a 3rd team by the deadline.

With the Cleveland Cavaliers no longer an option for Amar’e Stoudemire(notes), the Phoenix Suns are prepared to keep their All-Star forward through Thursday’s trade deadline, league sources told Yahoo! Sports.

Unless a trade materializes before Thursday afternoon, Stoudemire very well could spend the rest of the season in Phoenix.

“I think it’s 50-50 at best with Cleveland out of it,” said Stoudemire’s agent, Happy Walters.

The Suns weren’t enamored with the Cavs’ offer for Stoudemire – Zydrunas Ilgauskas(notes), J.J. Hickson(notes), Danny Green(notes) and a first-round pick – which spurred Cleveland to instead acquire Antawn Jamison(notes) from the Washington Wizards for a much smaller package.

The Miami Heat have continued to express interest in Stoudemire, and have offered Udonis Haslem(notes), Quentin Richardson(notes), Daequan Cook(notes) and a first-round pick. The Heat so far are unwilling to include Michael Beasley(notes) in any deal, league sources said. While the Suns don’t want Beasley for themselves, they think they can move him to another team for other assets.

League executives think the Heat are hesitant to improve their offer because they know they have a good chance of signing Stoudemire as a free agent this summer.

One league source with knowledge of the talks was skeptical the Suns will make any trade.

“No deal will happen,” a Suns source said. “Miami is a lo
ng shot, at best.”


My take: Suns together with Happy are finally putting their PR spin on this, I think that's all about negotiating tactics.

I am guessing no trade will go through. But if Miami sticks to their guns and refuses to trade Beasley, would you guys do the Q/Haslem/Cook deal if we added both our 1st rounders?

Really? This is the first right thing he's said publicly in a while. What about last off-season when he was talking up other teams like they could get him for cheap. Or when he killed proposed trades by bluffing about opting in.

He needs a PR agent, been saying that for a while now.

Plus I remember Shaq praisin Kerr for being one of the most honest people with him when it came to bball as a business. I think if Kerr is really that honest, and Amare expresses there isnt much going on (which idk if he has), then it's safe to say he'll stay a Sun (which is awesome :D )

If he doesn't get traded tomorrow we really have to extend him. I understand the fears of giving him 4 years(new CBA coming up, knee might be an issue), but we can't afford to lose him for nothing. Try to extend him and then trade him if you need to.

Yep. If Beasley isn't in the deal we'd need the 2 picks plus Haslem who could filll in at PF.

Unless Miami puts Beasley on the table I doubt any deal will happen as no team is going to take a couple of scrubs in order to send Phoenix a player of reasonable value.

No point of keeping Amare if they're not intend to resign him...No matter how crappy the offer is, we better take it before it's too late and lose him for nothing.
