that said, I'm also really PO'd about not being able to park
free anymore since the meters are now enforced until 10
when the enforcement used to end at 6:30.

I usually walk, but if I'm coming from somewhere else by car (or its like 20 degrees out) I park around 7th and M, on 7th or on side streets. If you don't mind walking a few blocks, I think those meters are still 6:30.

Thanks. I just saw this. FWIW, I used to park by the Tax Court on 3rd St?
Now the meters are enforced until 10 AND it's only 2 hour parking.

The link took me to a page but I'm not seeing the Q&A. I only see a box
that offers me the opportunity to ask something which I'm not really
prepared to do at the moment. But I would like to eavesdrop on the
conversation(s)

That's right at the line. My brother parks there so I walked over and checked. I think 3rd St. between D and E is still 6:30.

nope. 10 o'clock.

I drove up towards the area you suggested. It seemed like the 6:30 parking
went into effect above N street.

He actually posted my question and answered it:
10 Rules
We've seen and marvelled at your 10 rules for rebuilding the Caps. I think everyone sees the benefit of hitting bottom and rising like a phoenix. Do you envision the same type of rebuilding plan for the Wizards, and do you think your 10 rules could apply just as well for the NBA as it has for the NHL?

And someone named Andrea Caumont (a valued assistant of his?) posted a link to his 10-point rebuilding plan. http://www.hogshaven.com/2009/2/26/7729 ... es-his-ten Good answers.

Not that anyone expected him to be Snyder like, but this is a sign of him being an anti-Snyder.

Right, I think he imposes his philosophy but that's it, because he understands his limitations and what his role is - and lets his trusted employees do their jobs - with no micro-managing. On the last Caps trade, he even mentioned that he didn't know anything about it until after the trade was already done.

Compare that to the perception that most or all deals had to be run by Pollin, and the perception that most or all of the questionable deals (trading Webber, resigning Howard, Thomas, Arenas, and Jamison) were to some degree called for by Pollin.

I hope that the recent clearance price paid for the Bobcats franchise as-well as the overall low revenue figures for NBA team owners, will result in a lower buyout figure for Ted.

I'd consider there's a certain likelihood that the Pollins just decide that, after the Bobcats sale, this is the wrong time to sell the team and want to wait a year or two for the recovery of the economy. I'm sure it's at least an angle they would consider.

Wonder if there's a time frame definitively spelled out in the agreement between Pollin and Leonsis, and I wonder if it's an option-to-sell agreement, guaranteeing Leonsis the first right to purchase but also allowing the estate to simply decline to sell because of market conditions?

Wonder what the estate taxes will be? Wonder if they have enough to cover it without selling the team?

Wonder if they need an infusion of cash to hang onto the team? Wonder if such an infusion could be seen as a blind partner, violating the spirit and possibly the letter of the agreement between Pollin and Leonsis?

What if they entered into a buy-sell agreement by which one party offered a price at which the other could either buy out the first party or sell to the first party?

I have a longshot 'I wonder'....

I wonder if, under the scenario where the Pollins keep the club for a year or two, they run an absolute gutter ball payroll pressed right against the league's minimum payroll requirement?

It could happen. That threshold should be right around $43 million,

Or if they're feeling spendy, maybe they'd do 'Bring Out Your Dead' trade at the 2011 trade deadline after 60-70% of league wide player salary has been spent.

If they plan to keep the team for a couple years, that would not be a bad way to do it as those rookie salaries are thrift-city, plus they wouldn't be committing to any free agents under the current 'owner unfriendly' CBA.

It's conceivable that it might not actually work out that badly, if even just by accident.

dcsportsbog: Leonsis on Junkies: "We certainly showed the players and the fans that we mean business."

That's great news.
