Greatest WR Ever... not named Rice

Post#1 » by Harry10 » Thu Dec 13, 2007 4:13 am

is Randy Moss the second greatest WR ever???

if this season plays out like we all think it is going to.... and Moss has a few more +15 TD seasons.... then does this make Moss the 2nd best WR ever?

Depends one what happens this offseason. If he resigns with New England, than I would say he has multiple 15+ TD seasons. If he goes and wants to chase money, and finds himself in a situation like he was in Oakland than I think not.

Do you know how hard it is to have a 15+ receiving TD season? Since 1960, it's been done only 21 times. Granted Moss is well-represented on that list but he's 30 and, unless he has some kind of freakish Rice-like productivity, he's going to find them harder to come by.

Good point, you can argue though, that he is a legitimate shot at having atleast a few more. Take a look around the league, since the league has enforced the PI rule, it is alot easier to throw the ball around the field. I would bet there has been 5 or more out of that 21 since 04.

Wrong member of the 98 Vikings. It's Cris Carter.

you also have to take into account that if Moss resignes with the Pats, that, that will greatly increase his chances to get a few more +15 TDs seasons.

their has been alot of criticisms about Moss' personality, and work ethic, but one thing Moss hasn't been, is a "show me the money" guy. their has been no hold outs or straining money or contract talks, when it comes to Moss.

I don't know, they were different types of receivers. Carter was a great posession receiver while Irvin was a big play guy. His reception and TD numbers are a lot better than Irvins ever were. Carter had 2 seasons of 122 catches and 6 seasons of 10+ touchdowns. Irvin had 1 season with 111 catches and 1 season with 10 touchdowns. Irvin had 3 seasons with more yardage than Carters best season.
One thing though, it's humanly impossible to have better hands than Cris Carter.

I really think greg jennings could have a few 15+ td seasons. Hes got 12 through 12 games. He just needs three more in 2 games.

Not that Im saying hes going to be the second best WR of all time. Just saying how hard it is to get 15+ and hes on his way.

Did you read the post? It was just talking about a 15 touchdown season. Nowhere did it say Jennings is anywhere near any of these players.
