OT: Fan 590 will not extend radio deal with Raptors...

...although there isn't a formal announcement as of yet, it seems that the Fan 590 in Toronto will not be extending the radio contract that ended after the season ended. That sucks as I liked Paul Jones and Eric Smith doing the games and the post game shows

lol they are trying to kill Basketball completely (talking about Sportsnet/Fan590). Should they still be called a "Sports" Radiostation now?

This sounds bad. Hopefully no corporate affiliates bail. It will be interesting to see what attendance and ratings numbers will be next year..

I think it might be time for Realgm to do some campaigning again. Btw, the fan 590 has a survey you can fill out. In it, you can talk about whether or not you have more basketball. Get er done!

That station is sliding further and further into hockey oblivion. I already spend too much time listening to their crap and now they pull this one? I'm getting ready to boycott.

Is there any word on which more sensible station is going to take over the broadcasts?

i would wait till the full details are released, they could have simply not extended the contract because they wanted to renegotiate the terms to make it more lucrative for them?

This is either 1) a ploy for more hockey and the exodus of basketball in the city or 2) contract renegotiation. Which sounds more plausible?

I stopped listening to the Fan about 10 years ago. Got tired of that Norm Rumack guy being all over Darcy Tucker and Shayne Corson's nuts and the fact that it really was just a hockey station. It was so brutal how their main sports guys knew nothing about any sport except hockey. It made the whole radio station seem amateurish.

You'll be happy to know that Norm Rumack and his Hammerhead Alert crap is no longer part of the Fan590. He annoyed the heck out of me too.

Liked I care about the FAN 590, I only tune in a bit, But mostly I see dumb Sportsnet recording fan 590 and having it as a show on Sportsnet, which to me is the stupidest thing ever, who the hell is going to see a guy talk constantly in a mic,

It's funny how most of the shows on FAN have been complaining about Jays attendance, instead of hyping up a young Jays team with a plan. Remember last year, Halladay vs. Burnett was hyped up, it was a lead story on all channels, and guess what, place was full.

FAN like all other "sports" station in this country are hockey and commercials, and if they have time for other sports that's a bonus.
