Re: Around the League
Yeah Miami made a really nice move. Marshall gives Henne a nice target and can provide relief for two nice complimentary receivers in Bess and Camarillo. And they didnt give up tooooo much.
Denver probably goes after Dez Bryant now at 11 one would think, even after all his mini disasters. Miami at 12 can still get a really good player to address a need. Good times all around

I still wish it was the Lions on the receiving end of that trade.

Re: Around the League
Detroit doesn't have a 5th round pick and if we are going to get someone of his caliber, just draft Jacoby Ford.
Seattle signs WR Mike Williams. Ohhhh Pete Caroll's tenure in Seattle... so far so fail.

I understand we don't have a 5th, but I think Ginn could've helped.

Re: Around the League
According to Chris Mortensen on ESPN, Steelers/Goodell are aware of other "situations" that have not been made public regarding Roethlisberger. Goodell is trying to nip this in the bud before it gets out of hand. But if Ben can't get his head on straight, he could be out of the league in the next few years, if not sooner.
As for the suspension, it's a conditional suspension. Ben is suspended six games, but it can be reduced down to 4 if he does everything the league lays out including psychological help. Ben knew he was in deep. He didn't even ask for the union to be present for his hearing, and said that he would do whatever the league tells him too.
This is much bigger than some drunk incident in Georgia. This is a long list of incidents... much longer than any of us even know about.

Re: Around the League
I'd watch for a number of trades away the league today leading up to the draft. I love this time of year.

Apparently JaMarcus Russell is over 300 pounds, according to the wiretap. What a winner....

If I was Indianapolis, I'd take him. Let Manning show him how to get it done.

If i was a GM, i would go nowhere near him. I wouldn't take him for free. He has a bad attitude, his teammates dont play for him, is a consistent loser on the field and a terrible, fat, quarterback. No thank you

Re: Around the League
Regardless of his attitude and fatness, he still has enormous potential. He has the strongest arm in the NFL and even though he's 300 pounds, he's mobile. If I was a GM of a team that was set at quarterback, I'd take him just to see if I could bring out his potential and if I can, trade him off to a team in need of a QB or let him be the heir to my QB. If he ends up being the true bust we all think he is, then no harm no foul. He was just a backup.

I understand what you are saying, but as far as i am concerned he could throw it to Mars and it wouldnt matter. He couldnt hit water if he fell out of a boat and he doesnt seem to understand football at all.
He'll get picked up to be 3rd string somewhere, no doubt. But i guarantee his "potential" never comes close to appearing

Yea me too. I think Jamarcus Russell is a giant joke. But if you want to dump him on me then I'll gladly take him, whatcha want, I figure we can have this deal wrapped up in about 2 minutes. But that's still only going to matter if Russell can work out a contract arrangement. I'd doubt anybody is going to consummate a deal, he's just going to get released and I'd sign him. Although that's because I'm going to need QBs on this team cause every QB on the roster presently is bound to be traded w/possible exception of Stanton if nobody wants him.

So you would prefer Jamarcus Russell over Matt Stafford to QB the Lions over the next two years?
It's a moot point because it sounds like Russell will be more than happy to take his buyout and never play again. $3M more will buy a lot of whatever the hell he keeps eating.
It's not whether you win or lose, it's how good you look playing the game

If I was Mayhew, no way I would touch JaMarcus. My main focus is developing Stafford and bringing out the best in him. No room for another player to develop. If I were the Saints or Colts or Patriots or Vikings, I would be all over Russell. Let him learn behind the best.

Re: Around the League
I want no part of Russell. I was thankful we didn't draft him in 2007... I remain pleased that he's not the Lions problem. Let some other team deal with him. I might overlook a number of "problems" a player might have, but no desire to play the game, is not something I want on my team, ever.

Yeah but that's only if you are keeping Stafford on the team or if you are going with a QB carousel. Depends what the plan is to know if it makes sense to let him use up a roster spot.
