I don't see it being about what I think. Paxson obviously did something wrong, whether Vinny did as well has little affect on how one views Paxson. Unless one were to totally go the whole nine yards and twist the story to the point of believing Paxson was the victim!

More importantly than what I think, I'm saying the narrative of the story is out there in one way - a way that portrays Paxson in a negative light. The Bulls are accepting this narrative.

That seems a strange thing to do if things did not happen more or less as perceived.

Great. Maybe now we can put it to bed too? You are the one that keeps dragging it out. I said its not that interesting of a thing to me what individual fans believe about it.

It is concerning to me if people around the league view it as incompetent management. And we know of one at least, Jeff Vany Gundy, who came right out and tore into the Bulls over the issue. And other talking heads who fully expected that the Bulls would clean house over it, because such behavior just isn't considered acceptable.

Where do you get this stuff? Are you arguing with someone else because you are definitely not addressing what I wrote. And regardless of the above, you were psuhing this idea that it was all Pax. I'm saying you don't know that. If you've come around to my way of thinking, great, but don't pretend we were having a different argument and invent positions I never took. This is getting ridiculous.

No, they are putting it to bed. You acknowledge your mistakes, apologize and move on.

No, it is not for reasons I have stated about half dozen times. Another half dozen and you might actually catch on.

Of course, it's all me. I mean, sure, every time I finish writing one post theres' another post from you addressing me, but it's all me. Hey, I think this kind of illustrates my earlier point about two people viewing the same event differently. Of course, you won't see it that way.

All of that was before the firing and the press conference. Not much of a story there now.

Why do people pretend to know what happened in a room that even these reporters have no idea about what actually happened? All we know for sure is Pax went into Vinny's office after a game, a said "hey man WTF? why are you disobeying a direct order?" what happened after that is all speculative unless you are either Vinny, Pax, or the little dancing hula doll on Vinny's desk.

Why did Pax take responsibility for his part in the "altercation"? Well when the coaching fraternity starts bashing the organization, something has to be done/said to cool off the heat coming the organizations way. Why is it everything a GM/organization "puppet" says is considered "fluff" until they say something that backs up preconceived notions of incompetence? Why is it nearly every fan that is "correct" on this is also the same fans that have bashed the organization for months upon months, especially after letting a certain player bolt?

To pretend to be so level headed about things when prejudices have been shown in the past is a joke.

Did Pax screw up? Yes. But, only so much as going so far as his "altercation" made it into the media. He was a pissed off boss that had an underling disobey a direct order. Will it hurt us in the off season? Possibly. But ask yourself this. If you are a "star" player would you rather play for a GM that seemingly will blow up on a coach for jeopardizing a players health (ahem grant hill) or would you rather play for a coach that will pull out all the stops to get a few more wins on a non championship level team, including playing a player he was already adviced by the medical staff and his superiors not to play?

Everything is not as one sided as many make it out to be. Pax has dirt on him, as does Vinny.

Told you I wrote the speech:

Del Negro, who spent Tuesday morning cleaning out his Berto Center office, met briefly with reporters and said, "I just want to say how grateful I am to Jerry Reinsdorf and the Chicago Bulls and the great people in the organization. I'd be remiss not to say how grateful I am to the players for how hard they worked and developed. I feel very strongly the organization is in a much better place now than it was two years ago when I started.

Sorry, putting it to bed is firing John Paxson. We didn't do that. Not making him say 'sorry' for trying to assault his coach.

Did Latrell Sprewell keep his job after trying to choke P.J. Carlesimo? No he did not.

All we did is some hand waving, attempted rug sweeping about 'management transition' which 1) many aren't buying, and 2) very likely won't be seen as going far enough.

You get the last word.

Thats because he didn't just 'try' - he accomplished getting his hands around PJ's neck and squeezed.

Its good to see you are so grounded in reality as to equate the Latrell situation to this.

not trying to talk ****, but what makes you so happy? If anything some of the diry laundry as been cleanep today..Vinny, Reinsdorf, GarPax have all hugged and taken the high road. So the Animal House perception, might, hopefully cool down.

Plus, you guys just got bent over by the Boston Nursing Home..things don't look so hot in Miami.

No, firing Paxson would scream of severe misconduct and then to fire Vinny? Do you see how that plays? "Hey, we had to fire our VP because of his actions toward the coach and then fired said coach after winning 41 games, do you want to coach for us?" There isn't a coach in the league who jumps at that.

Look, PR 101 says you kill negative press the easiest, quickest way possible. Paxson wanted to do that by coming out the day after, but that wouldn't have been effective. So they waited until after the season and in their due course.

You also REFUSE to acknowledge as Vinny doing anything wrong. You seem so caught up on what Paxson did and what Vinny did as if Vinny is completely innocent. He isn't. Mainly for the reason no one knows what happened after Paxson yelled at him. We have two facts:

1. Vinny played Noah well over his minute allotment. that didn't sit well with John Paxson, who...
2. Started yelling at Vinny.

Any violence/physical contact is a non substantiated rumor that can be neither confirmed nor denied, so two people can draw different conclusions.

No one is saying Paxson isn't wrong (I definitely think he is wrong). No one.

Vinny was fired for a multitude of reasons outside of this incident though. If you believe Paxson kept his job/Vinny didn't SOLELY based on this incident, then go ahead and believe that. I don't.
