Vinny Fired;Vinny+Gar+Pax (?!) Press Conference @ 11AM today

As a Heat fan, I am thrilled with the steps taken so far by the Bulls.

WHY?

because FA's will perceive thatour management sucks and they're better taken care by Pat Riley.

But ask yourself this. If you are a "star" player would you rather play for a GM that seemingly will blow up on a coach for jeopardizing a players health (ahem grant hill) or would you rather play for a coach that will pull out all the stops to get a few more wins on a non championship level team, including playing a player he was already adviced by the medical staff and his superiors not to play?

Everything is not as one sided as a few are making it out to be. What's funnier is i'd guess even had Pax said "ya i messed up bad, so i'm going to step down" those same people would say, "see this proves we're disfunctional, nobody will play here".

Wow after their comments about Hinrich, I am now convinced that he will retire as a Bull, and Reinsdorf will give him a role within the organization after retirement.

While I'm glad that Vinny is gone but I will be more happy if the Bulls management be smart with their choices and pick the right coach for the replacement to take to the next level.

As for the initial topic ....

If Paxson wasn't going to quit/be fired then this is basically the best we could do. Publicly he's been demoted and taken responsibility for an embarrassing incident. It's not what I particularly wanted, but it's okay.

Well yeah, I think that's been apparent all along.

I mean, even he said during the conference that he is basically Jerry's right hand man, so naturally he'd have the voice to over-ride Gar whenever he pleases.

I don't know about anyone else, but I trust Paxson and I always have. He may not be the greatest basketball mind there is, but who is? All I know is that he is a Bulls lifer, and you know he has Bulls blood running through his veins. Until he makes a monumental mess up, I'll continue to support him.

I think we need to understand that what K.C. reports and what K.C. believes about what he writes is apparently not always the same thing.

In defense of K.C. he was kind of blindsided by the question. Just prior to it, he was actually talking up to Kaplan and the boys the official line, about how the transition is coming along as planned and that Gar stated he was the guy doing the coaching search and making decisions now… then they interrupted him point blank and asked if he really believed what was said about Pax not being able to overrule Gar. He gave the honest answer when it came to what he believed personally.

Otherwise he was just parroting the press conference, which is fine, that his job. It’s just a shame that when he writes his columns there is no one there that can interrupt in the same way to get his true feelings on what he is reporting. Because he has a unique inside perspective. And considering that perspective, if K.C. is not even buying what he is reporting I hardly think Bulls fans should be expected to take it on faith all the time either.
