Globally, the Cardinals don't touch the Bulls. Do a google search on "most popular baseball team" and you will find oodles of articles, none of which put the Cardinals at #2. The Braves, Dodgers and Red Sox routinely out poll them.

This is also a good point. Except that the Knicks do have a national and international following. David Stern himself has called it the "flagship" franchise of the NBA despite its lack of historic success.
