About 30 minutes ago, LeBron James - complete with a tear in his eye, was seen arriving at the United Center, along with his agent and close friends.

His agent then approached the press with the following message:

"First and foremost, I would like Cleveland Cavaliers owner Dan Gilbert, General Manager Danny Ferry, and all those guys who gave me a great opportunity in Cleveland. I'd especially like to thank all my fans, who have made my decision today the most difficult decision I will ever make in my career.

What Kevin Garnett told me after that playoff series was the biggest factor in my mind. I've seen what those guys did in Boston. They're all great players, but they needed each other to win."

"I've received many great offers this summer, and I've realised the time has come for me to move on. That's why, by tomorrow, I will become a Chicago Bull."

His agent added LeBron has little else to say at this time, that his client was very emotional about his decision. He commented that Chicago has a great core, a phenomenal market, and combined with the additional cap space it gained this summer, is in a great position to bring LeBron his first title.

Terms of the deal have not yet been disclosed, however it is rumoured LeBron's agent and the Bulls GM will be trying to work out a Sign & Trade with Cleveland, and the contract will likely be a maximum of six years with an early opt out after 3.

Minutes after LeBron James released a statement to the press, Amar'e Stoudemire was seen arriving at the United Center.

As he approached the crowds of reporters standing by the entrance, smiling in excitement, he stated "my agent will take questions" as he hastily entered the building.

"As you may have seen, today is a landmark day in Chicago Bulls history. Amar'e Stoudemire will soon be sitting down alongside LeBron James to put pen to paper on their new contracts. The Chicago GM is already holding talks with Phoenix in order to work out a Sign & Trade proposal, and we hope the relevant paperwork will be faxed across shortly".

When quizzed about the terms of the deal, his agent stated "the same as LeBron's".

A full press release is expected to be released later by the Chicago Bulls GM, making their latest signings official.

"This is my house"

Post#23 » by lukekarts » Tue Jun 1, 2010 7:04 pm

In perhaps the biggest day in basketball free agent history, Dwyane Wade arrived at the American Airlines Arena just minutes ago, alongside Heat owner Micky Arison, Pat Riley, his agent Henry Thomas, and an as yet unnamed individual.

As he walked past the press, Dwyane Wade shouted "this is my house", perhaps the most obvious comment yet on his future.

"I love Miami, this is my home, this is the team that brought me my first championship, and this will be the team that brings me my next championship.

The GM has done a great job in attracting the right players to this team. Jameer has proven his playoff credentials with Orlando, and Shane is one of the toughest players I've come up against". And with a wide smile, Wade commented "and there's the new guy. Playing with him shall be fun".

Speculation is rife as to who that as yet unnamed 'new guy; is, but most expect that player to be….

...Chris Bosh

Henry Thomas delivered a press release shortly after arriving in Miami, stating both his major clients were putting pen to paper tonight, on a deal that will see the Eastern All Stars combine for 82 games a season.

And that second client is "none other than Chris Bosh".

Thomas added "both players discussed this the day they became free agents. Both have been very public in their comments, as you all know, Dwyane - against my own advice" he said jokingly, "publicly stated he wanted to stay in Miami, whilst Chris tweeted anything but the same for Toronto. At the end of the day, both players felt their best chance of success was to team up, and with LeBron giving his commitment elsewhere, Miami seemed like the best option".

Thomas later commented that both players were expecting to sign the same deal, with the Heat GM pressing Toronto for a S&T to be completed in the next few hours. He also stated that the players were guests of Micky Arison last week, and were both "supremely confident" in what he had to say.

Expect more details to be released directly from Miami later on.
There is no consolation prize. Winning is everything.

I just want to say as a GM who has NO MONEY but the MLE to spend....

this is where these guys should/would have signed....

both teams (MIA and CHI) made good teams and kept the money to sign 2 max guys.

Rose / Lee / Bron / Amare / Noah

Meer / Wade / Battier / Bosh / Alabi - with the chance this will be a different center...

i know theses gonna be a lot of mad people. But these are the right places for these guys to sign.

As much as Rondo, Green, Bargs, Perkins, Aminu, Demar and Rudy are sad to see that neither DWade or LeBron joined them in Boston, I agree that commish has made the correct choice for the 4 players involved, the fans in Miami and even more so Chicago will be lineing up at the ticket window tomorrow mornibg! Congrats to those 2 franchises on landing the big fish

Nice to see people backing the commisioner's decisions this time around. I agreed with him as well in PMs. Although I still believe Wade should've forced a S/T to Chicago as well somehow.

If it's any consolation, here were my words regarding the knicks:
New York: I'd have liked to have seen them move someone. It looks like there's not any moves with improvement in mind as of yet. If they could secure Bosh first, Lebron may go there. Given that roster though, even if they sign Lee they're weak up front in rebounding, Curry may not be in shape, they've got no help defense and a limited number of shooters. And Danillo plays the position of their two best players (as does Bosh). (snipped part regarding FAs still in play)
Miami is interesting, but they've got NO bigs. Lebron can't go there with Wade and Meer and expect much; however, Bosh going with Wade is a plausible scenario. Essentially it comes down to this: Wade and Bosh go to NY or to Miami. How do you value Nelson? How do you value Gallinari? Do you trust Miami's management more? Hard questions to answer, and I think either locale for BOTH superstars is defensible.

I really feel like if you're going to go for two max FAs (presumably a big and a wing) with an eye to Lebron first, you can't go into FA with your best three players being a SF, a PF, and a SF/PF naturally. I'd have liked to see Gallinari moved for another good youngster or a good vet; however, his value is so over the place on RGM, I can imagine there weren't suitable offers.

Just my two cents, as I noted above though, I think you could've sent Wade and Bosh to NY without it being indefensible.

Whoa, easy there.

You just got two all-stars, aren't you being a little greedy asking for the best player in the world? :D

I completely agree. I definately needed to do something to show I was trying to build a winner for Lebron but the offers I got from other people just sucked arse. I've received a lot of offers and the only two that I even bothered giving a second glance were:

A) Joel Pryzbilla for 3 million in cash-I like Pryzbilla and that I could get him without sacrificing any of the few players I had to get him is a huge plus for a team as lacking in depth as NY. But alas, I would have been paying 3 million dollars for the right to give up more than 7 million in cap room. Didn't make much sense to me.

B)A 3 team deal which featured me getting Luke Walton for Eddy Curry's expiring deal. Anyone who can get off the bench and walk to halfcourt without A)getting totally gassed or B) getting distracted by a vender selling hotdogs is technically an upgrade over Eddy Curry but I don't think it would have made a lick of difference to Lebron so there was no reason to eat those extra years in salary.

Absolutely not, there's still a month of trading to go.

I'd still consider, depending if people want me to, extending the game to the 2011 free agency?

If not, final rankings will done as per the end of the 2011 season.

I may also suggest full writeups for winner of the West vs. East, as some of you guys do for the other games?

Chicago has officially agreed to a sign and trade for LeBron James.

In return, Cleveland gets Courtney Lee, the 2012 lotto protected Charlotte pick, and the rights to Omer Asik.

Chicago accepts, as this is LeBron freaking James. We probably could have given up less, but there's no sense in pushing our luck, and we're happy to welcome LeBron to the team.

Terms of LeBrons contract.

Year 1: $16,568,908
Year 2: $18,308,643
Year 3: $20,048,379
Year 4: $21,788,114 (ETO)
Year 5: $23,527,849
Year 6: $25,267,585
