I really like Ki Sung-Yeung, kid looks like he has a lot of potential. I was disappointing we only got 45 minutes of PT

Yep, if Messi plays like that (and Tevez as well actually), that team is going deep. Maradona was questioned a lot, but he's made good decisions so far and could be the calming presence Messi needed to step up on this stage.

Meh, Diego's insistence on playing Veron instead of a more creative player like Pastore means that the Argentinians are way too dependent on Messi, plus Higuain has been pretty bad so far and why he plays over Milito is far more baffling than Maradona not bringing Cambiasso or Zanetti along. That first game against nigeria was ugly and while things looked better against South Korea, the koreans also have a **** defense. If Argentina are to beat the top teams with their current lineup they'll need Messi to do it single-handedly which is why I don't like their set up. Have Pastore play next to Mascherano in a more advanced position and stick Milito up top in Higuain's spot while getting rid of Heinze and that team is suddenly very scary and on par with Brazil and Germany.

Let me explain my criticism of Higuain before some comes in flaunting his hattrick. Higuain is on the score sheet for 3 goals, but not one of them took any skill on his part other than being at the right place at the right time, a skill Diego Milito has at an even higher level. The first goal is a header that Milito would've taken much better and put right into the net instead of risking a bounce, Higuain did well to get it down, but here Milito's better size would've made that an easier goal. For the second goal he might as well have been a post there for the ball to bounce in off of, again right place, right time as he read the play well to get in front of net, but that's a goal any international striker scores. And the final hattrick goal which was his best but still was a simple run and header unmarked that Milito would've put into the net just as well.

He's going to be over-rated because Messi and Tevez eviscerated horrible outmatched South Korean defense and used him to bounce the ball into the net, but this wasn't a great showing. Milito would've done the same and provided a better passer for the offense to work with. Higuain should be a better fit as a striker who drifts wide to make room for Messi in the middle, but he's disappeared every time he's moved wide, Milito would be much more useful because of that superior passing and ball control. It also must be said that South Korea's defense was just horrible on each of those goals, leaving men unmarked right by the box like that is shameful.

I agree about Higuain actually. The thing is, Maradona can hang on to the productivity in numbers and say he made the right choice. I like how Maradona has utilized his main attacking players though and he's gotten a ton out of Messi where Messi has up and vanished in the past.

Well last world cup was on the bench so I don't think credit should go as much to Diego as it should to time and Messi for growing up as a player. I do like a lot of what Maradona's done I just think he's screwed up at a couple of spots, one is Higuain over Milito, the other is playing Veron instead of a creative player or if you don't want another play maker what about a better defender who'd be just as uncreative like Cambiasso or even Demichelis?

And that defense is just wrong. Samuel's good but Heinze blows, Jonas on the right is weak defensively and isn't involved enough offensively for it to be justified and Demichelis has some lapses.

Man...seriously SMH at this game though. In the first half we sucked...so I just said f*ck it and took my shower during the second half expecting us to lose but I came back and see us down by one. And then we score another, and then the ref who has been making bad calls all game steals a goal away from us. Terrible, refs stay f*cking up, no matter the sport.

Who gives a sh*t. If you go down 2-0 to Slovenia, you don't deserve to win.

that has nothing to do with it, its a 90 minute game, not a 45 minute game....USA came back and had the win but got robbed

I'm sick of people blaming refs for not getting the results they want. Newsflash to casual football fans, who decide to take in a few games every FOUR years: Refs are a part of a game, and its not uncommon AT ALL for bad decisions to be made by a ref. It happens all the time. Thats why its critical to convert the chances that you DO get.

LOL thats the best justification you can come up with?

i watch league football so im not a casual fan

that disallowed goal was terrible, not only was their no offside, a US player was taken down too which could/shouldve been a penalty
