Refs are terrible in every sport, really it's nothing new. The refs get blamed for **** in basketball too, in baseball also in every sport. That still doesn't change the fact that he was making bad calls all game for both sides and took away a good goal. Therefore how is that a newsflash? A bad call is a bad call.

i watch league football so im not a casual fan

that disallowed goal was terrible, not only was their no offside, a US player was taken down too which could/shouldve been a penalty

Did I once say that those calls weren't bad?

Being the football aficionado that you are, you should know that whining about refs is one of the oldest, and cheapest trick in the book to justify why you're team couldn't win. You sure it wasn't because you went down 2-0 to a team everyone in the American media was saying should be a step-over? Or all the shots you couldn't convert?

The point is to nut up and focus on your next match.

And that goal wasn't a chance at "converting the chances you DO get"? What's the point of converting chances when they get stripped from you. There is no way to justify what happened. Soccer doesn't end when your down 0-2 so blaming USA for losing in a half for a ref's horrible decision is immature. Like someone said earlier it's a 90 minute game not a 45 minute one.

GREAT teams will win despite bad refs. But not all teams can be great teams. For an average, or even a good team, these kinds of bad calls WILL bury you, especially in a short competition like this.

So yeah, the US got robbed.

that was a sickeningly bad call. English ref by the way, which is highly suspect in the same group and all.

and for those who think its not ok to blame a ref for a bad call apparently dont know jack about football. Poor ref'ing in football isnt like basketball. its much more impactful and corrupt.

Last time I checked, Mali declared independence from France 50 years ago. It was never under British governance.

No call that went against Slovenia was as bad as the phantom handball that gave a yellow card to Findley(Meaning he is gone vs Algeria) or that disallowed goal.

Ridiculous call, that ref should never call another Cup game ever again.

You must have missed the first 10 seconds of the game when Clint Dempsey elbowed one of our players in the face.

That is nowhere near as bad as a disallowed goal. You and I both know that.

Missing a red card is pretty bad.

That isn't a red card. Dempsey was using his elbow for balance, a lot of guys do that.

Arguable yellow card I will give you. But red card is a bit insane now.

Did they take away a goal from Slovenia too? I don't think so. There's no missed call that went against Slovenia that would be equal to the epic mistake that ref called on the US. so just stop trying to justify the game. It wasn't a tie. It was a "tie". Just admit it and enjoy it.

Ref was biased entire game. Blatantly obvious.

Just continuing to show what a joke Fifa's officiating is.

2 terribly reffed games so far today. Lets see if we can make it three.

Wrong. Ref was horrible. But he wasn't biased. If he was biased, only one side would be getting terrible calls.

A red card would be way too harsh ... In that exact situation there would be a red card perhaps 5% of the time (with various referees), and even that's probably a stretch.
I was afraid, though, after that start, that the ref is going to be biased ... but it turned out he's just clueless. ;)

And lets be fair, disallowing the goal was a gift! But we'll take it, haha. ;)
