Unless this sets us up for a much bigger trade, I'm sick of these minor lateral moves that do nothing in regards to improving the team.

We need to see something significant. If BC is going to "overhaul" the team, it had better be to start from scratch with draft picks, or bringing in some major upgrades.

Go big by getting some big name players, or completely rebuild.......anything in between is a waste of our time.

this just seems like a rumor that someone pulled out of their ass purely based on bryan's supposed affection for euro players.

I still think the george for Beli is a good trade...although Beli didn't turn out what all we have hoped for, there is no denial that the guy is talented.

I'm split on how I feel about this one.

Rudy is a lot more spirited and semi-tougher then some of the Euro trash we have but this would also make me think that we would be keeping Calderon and shipping Jack which I hate.

Blazer fan here.

You have no idea how bad Rudy is. This guy is by far the most overrated player in the NBA.

Potential starting lineup next year: Jose Calderon/Rudy Fernandez/Hedo Turkoglu/Andrea Bargnani/Cole Aldrich.

I actually kind of like.

Harsh a bit maybe? Even though I think the European style of play was a phase in the NBA and doesn't win playoff series let alone championships, I don't think they have trailer parks in Rome.

I'm not sure how this trade makes any sense. This team already has guys like Rudy Fernandez and they're the reason why the team is bad. Colangelo continuously goes after players who should not be in the starting lineup, and sticks them in there, watches the team struggle, and then comes back after the season and makes excuses. Rudy Fernandez is a slight improvement over Marco Belinelli, but he's pretty much the same type of player - the type who's more suited for a 6th man scoring role off the bench and nothing else. And no, he's no Manu Ginobilli.

After all those rumours we've heard in the last couple of weeks, if this is what pops out of them, then look forward to another horrible season. I will never understand Colangelo's obsession over the same type of players.

If GS is willing to give up the 6th pick for Monta Ellis, then Colangelo might as well be all over that one. It makes way more sense than trading for Fernandez and giving up the pick. Ellis is the same type of player as Fernandez, Barbosa, Lou Williams, Marco Belinelli and all the other redundant players BC likes, but at least he's better than Fernandez, and the Raptors end up with the 6th pick.

There is no way I would want to do this.

1. Fernandez is not very good.
2. I don't want to give up our pick for Fernandez
3. I don't want another soft player on this team who can't play Defense.

@raptorshq I'm hearing that it's Toronto that doesn't want to do the Fernandez deal. That's crazy...why wouldn't they? Solid deal.

Because BC has finally learned that you don't get fair exchange on Euro currency in North America.

Rudy>Belinelli

Stop comparing Rudy at Marco's level. Rudy can get quality minutes and imo, it's a perfect move since DD will start.

DD/Rudy

that's a good combination and better than DD and Bradley.

I hate the fact that people are saying "He's not good, Another Euro trash yadda yadda".
Rudy is a very good player and he can really play but I felt like it's not worth giving up no. 13(co'z we might acquire a possible stud) for a 25 year old player who's potential is almost already hit the ceiling and has little moments in the playoffs. He should've stepped it up a lil more when Brandon Roy was injured.

ps. BC is not that dumb. He knows what he's doing out there I thought in his first 3 years he's been slacking off( like mini trade here and there) but right now given the circumstances and the result I think he's motivated to improve the team. Just let him shuffle the cards.

you're being stereotypical Rudy can play defense he provides energy and hustle on both ends of the court.
