Except Ernie...he was busy being on 'the receiving end' tonight. No vaseline....

I think Hamady weighing around 230 is a concern. Booker being 6'7" and Seraphin being 6'8" and staying in France a while are concerns. At least EG went beefy and tried to go for athleticism, shotblocking, and defense.I give him a solid D. Too bad he buys things at over market prices. He could have done a lot more if he were a wheeler dealer.

I'm probably being generous not giving him an F (EDITED TO ADD because of adding Hinrich's deal and me ASSUMING a bad Gil is to follow), but just on N'Diaye and Booker being athletes I'll wait and see.

As much as I ripped the two trades up to overpay at least I'm comfortable EG got NBA athletes in Wall and Booker.

He didn't do as bad as he did last year when that was just straight up STANK bad on draft night.

+1

All things considered, I've seen Ernie do worse.

We just witnessed about 4.5 hours of it. If you want more, refer to lat years draft

who cares about the other picks? I do really like booker.... he's growing on me the more I find on him. He fits the Dominic McGuire role pretty well I think.

But seriously, how can you give the daft a C or a D when you get JOHN WALL! It's an A from me

and what's up with the 56th pick from Minnesota?

Anyone who hates Grunfeld ought to pick another team to follow until he's gone. It is absolute misery listening to you jerks complain about him.

THIS IS SUPPOSED TO BE FUN, YOU ANIMALS! If the NBA draft can make you this angry, you need to seriously reflect on your priorities.

I don't understand what you're getting at. If you wanted Player X, and we drafted Player Y, why wouldn't you complain?

(Not sure if this necessarily applies to you, however it does apply to some of the EG lovers.)

I'll give him a B, Wall is a no brainer. Seraphin is a guy I wanted and I think will come over this year and be productive. Booker, we gave up too much for him, but I did want him at 35.

I would not have been too disappointed with him at 35. I think the 35 was thrown away moving up to get Booker, I don't think Booker is that much better than Lazar Hayward. Alabi is the only big I available at 35 that would have been my preference over N'diaye.

With drafting John Wall and getting a mid-first means the draft is a B in my mind.

I was actually just goofing around not actually knowing anything about the guy.

I can't give a grade myself, as I'm not familiar with the players.

On looking at the mocks, you'd say that if we packaged both the 30th and 35th to move up to 23 and get Damien Jones, it's respectable value and maybe nobody's really upset. But, can I really say that I have some great assurance that James is a better pro than Booker? No. No, I can't.

So it seems like we overpaid there, but it won't really matter as far as the bad/good draft rating if Booker turns out to be able to play small some forward and remind people of Crash Wallace (Though a small forward, Wallace actually plays both forward positions these days)

About the only thing I can say with complete certainty now is that Hamady's a future DPOY. :D

It looks like everyone is just complaining about where we picked people, not WHO got picked.

Wall- obvious
Seraphin- good pick if he comes over this year
Booker- Good pick- fits in well
N'diaye- possibly good. I don't know a whole lot about him

I think it was a very good draft. It sure beats the crap out of OPec and Veeremenko

The only one hurling terms like jerks and animals is you.

To me, I welcome you coming and telling me how wrong I am at some point in the future about something. I have a lot of respect for guys like yungal when he does. They don't just come around getting steamed or depressed when somebody doesn't agree. If they are pissed, they at least have a point of view and reasons and don't turn it into namecalling.

As far as getting angry is concerned, this beats the hell out of kicking somebody's ass in the real world. A little cyber venting is sure nice for me.

You can suit yourself, Bickerstaff, but I don't think calling names is the way to go.

For me, this draft was a rollercoaster. EG certainly could have done more to get similarly talented players without trading up and getting locked in at the prices he did.

OTOH, the players he got are pretty intriguing. Strange, interesting, frustrating draft. Time will tell.

No, it doesn't apply to me at all. I'm also not an EG lover. I just see no point in hating the man. Honestly, I find it disturbing.

This strange, interesting, frustrating draft will hopefully make some more sense once Summer League starts up. We can at least field a little more of a team if Seraphin shows up.

speaking of Summer League, where did that thread go?

Guess what? Wizards apparently RECEIVED $3Mil along with the 17th pick and Hinrich.

I'm upping my grade to C because I think I like this the more I think about it. Athletes that run the court. Booker and N'Diaye both played 4 years of NCAA ball in top-notch conferences. They're mature. Seraphin is also a top-notch athlete.

Screwy trading up, but I'll give EG some creativity points for at least finding a way to get tough guys who will change the culture of the team.

I can't downgrade the draft based on my real fear that Hinrich spells a very bad Gil trade to come, until I see what actually happens.

I give this draft a C. Better than last year by a lot. Definitely could have been better trading up.

I give this draft the worst grade imaginable: An A minus, minus!

Paid too much for the #17. And if we cant move Hinrich we are stuck with his 8mil on the tail end of his deal.

We didnt move up further than #17. Keveeen Seraphin better be a god damn steal.

End on a positive note; JOHN WALL! I wish the draft went backwards, so i could just be ecstatic we got JOHN WALL, and not left scratching my head over EG's moves. I guess ill watch a few Wall Mixes on youtube.

Because you realize at the end of the day, both Seraphin and Booker, and even N'Diaye are your kind of player.

Seraphin is that slightly undersized, but really strong and really athletic rebounding big you've always wanted us to draft.

Booker is drawing Milsap/Blair comparisons (who wouldn't want a taller, more athletic Blair/Milsap with big-time finishing ability?).

I dunno why you don't think Wall will be a superstar - I know Cousins will likely be a consistent 22/12/3 presence in the NBA, but we just aren't in a position to overthink this - it would have been like taking Melo or even Wade over LeBron in 2003 (granted, I'd rather have Wade than LeBron, but that's less a talent issue and more an intangibles issue), or taking Okafor over Dwight.
