Does the term a warm day in Siberia, mean anything. I don't think so. How about you just get net fans to show up and while you are at Pay mebury for the props he gave you
Quote from ESPN’s Bill Simmons posted on Twitter “28 FT’s to 5. I don’t watch rigged NBA games, I’m switching to hockey”

I disagree...we don't care about the Nets enough to hate them.

Fair point but I have hate in my heart :) I strongly dislike the Nets even though I agree with your general premise that they are an irrelevant organization.

It's pretty bad. They'll have to paper over Avery when he gets fired and then stamp "DEPORTED" on the Russian when he's caught with prosties and white powder at The Plaza.

You can't market a team this way anyway -- NYers all know the Nets and by and large hate the Nets. An owner would have a better chance attracting new fans if you brought in a new team altogether and started over.

ahhahahahah@ "prosties and white powder"

And not for nothing but Prokhorov is a stiff. Not sure why they are trying to portray him as this big charismatic Mark Cuban clone.

I think this billboard has an even deeper meaning. I also feel Jay-Z's influence and ownership will grow with the Nets. People forget he's one of the biggest money making entertainers in the business therefore his personal financial worth is worth a lot to MP. Just think once their Arena is built Jay-Z will play a major role bringing revenue into the arena from concerts he promotes and artist he represents.

I think the billboard is also a beginning of snatching up Knick fans to turn in their fan cards. The billboard isn't all about Lebron it's the Nets trying to win over New York now that they are Brooklyn.

Jay-Z owns less than 2% of the Nets. You expect him to put up a lot of wealth for what return?

The problem is that Prokhorov has no purpose being next to Jay-Z. NO ONE outside of pure basketball diehards know who the heck that is. So the first reaction you'll get when "Knick fans" you want to "take over" will most likely be "who the f is that next to Jay-Z"?

Prokhorov appears to fashion himself as an international man of mystery type that somehow everyone is supposed to know, love, fear, respect and bow down to but every chance he's gotten to show the free world what he's about he looks like a freakin stiff. Heck Frankenstein's Monster has more personality than him.

He should take some of that billions and put it into a personality coach.

The part about "That's a great sign" -- is that your thought or are you relaying what Hahn said?

I agree they both are an odd mix but the common denominator is money. Money talks. It's also beneficial for Jay's pockets too as it's added publicity regardless of his percentage of ownership. His shares will grow if the Nets will grow. It will depend obviously on the franchises success or lack thereof and how many fans flock to their barn. In New York if the fans are as knowledgeable as has been discussed on this forum in particular they'll know who the man is next to Jay(if not then obviously too much credit has been given), not to mention let's say they don't know what better way than to get people to question and then want to find out by plastering a huge Billboard in the heart of the city.

I think the billboard looks corny but I think I understand the philosophy behind it. I don't feel it's all about Lebron
