The Knicks don't bring Amare' Stoudemire to Jim Dolan's July 4th bash unless this was agreed upon before. Which it was - with contingency.

(4pm meeting with Dolan today to apparently agree -formally - to a deal...although cannot be signed until Thursday)

This means Knicks are officially out of LeBron sweepstakes.

EDIT: Sam Amick samickFanHouse

So much for the Amar'e-LBJ holdup theory:) @wojYahooNBA reporting it's being finalized.

RT @Ian_OConnor: One executive w/ another team in #LeBron derby said LBJ told them he was OK w/ Bosh or Amare, so no need for Knicks 2 wait

A few days of summer silence, possibly

As always, I’m taking all cues from LeBron James, so this is time for a slight slow-down right here on this blog.

(I’ve booted World Wide Wes from my inner circle, too!)

Of course, LeBron’s taking a few days to mull multiple $100M-plus offers and trying to re-shape the NBA, while I am succumbing happily to a few scheduled off-days.

Things might get lively around the sports world, but they will hopefully remain relateively quiet here at least until Thursday, though I make no guarantees.

As of the moment, all signs point to this scenario: LBJ (Cle), Wade + Bosh(Mia), Boozer(Chi), Amare(NY). Not that that's startling news.

It will be really interesting to see what Lebron decides to do. It looks like 3 big FAs (Dirk,Amar'e and Johnson ) are off the market. This leaves Bosh and Wade as the remaining two big FAs and Boozer and Lee as very good players. If Bosh and Wade really go to Miami and Miami manages to sign someone like Haywood too, then Lebron will have a hard time beating that if he stays in Cleveland. Of course there is always the possibility of making a major trade or getting lucky and get handed that missing piece (like the Lakers , Pistons or Celtics).

Although I'm hoping as a Knick fan that Lebron joins us I always thought the Cavaliers were favorites to keep Lebron. But your FO will have major work to do in order to quickly put a title worthy supporting cast around Lebron. I know a few Cavaliers fans and even after the deadline deal I was telling them that Mo Williams and Antawn Jamison is not gonn a cut it and they were laughing at me. But trust me, as Knick fans we know the difference between players that make you win and players that only good look statistically.

Lebron needs a serious 2nd option. Someone that is athletic and strong offensively that can take pressure off of Lebron and guarantee 20 points even under intense playoff defense.

Once #Knicks get Amar'e commitment, it will provide what rest of #NBA has been waiting to see from LeBron/Wade: Decision and direction.

The NBA appears to be the latest big brand trying out Twitter’s new “promoted trends” feature that lets a company bump a given topic onto Twitter’s trending topic list.

The league has promoted the term “LeBron James,” meaning when users click on the basketball superstar’s name (which is accompanied by a “promoted” icon), they’ll see both tweets about him from regular Twitter users and a promoted tweet from the NBA. The promoted tweet directs users to a special section of NBA.com that has been setup to cover free agency.

LeBron just left his camp. Shook his head no when asked if he had a decision or a timetable.

But let me say, LeBron & Maverick Carter relaxed & pleasant to stalking media (me). They're having way more fun than us.

Hardwood Paroxysm HPbasketball

So now if James is just comparing Knicks v. Cavs (which he's not), he's weighing home and mo-tawn-andy v. money and Amar'e. Not miles apart.

I am constantly stunned at how underrated Stoudemire is. The defensive questions are legit. So are the offensive answers.

I have a hard time believing that putting Amare on that team makes them someone attractive to play for. Eh, we'll see.

agree.

Even with LeBron, and if they kept ALL of their guys (LeBron would have to sign for less than max), and even with 3-4 decent guys taking the minimum...still cannot see the Knicks getting past the 2nd round (and that is IF they got LeBron cheap, and 3-5 decent guys at minimum + leftovers from last season).
