- Chicago now has to choose between locking in mediocrity or coming up with a different plan for moving forward. I'm not sure that the knee jerk idea of signing Boozer or Lee is the right idea.

Thank you for saying the second part. People need to take a step back and think right now, which nobody wants to do because they are swept in in emotion/panic. If anything, to me, this makes me NOT want Carlos Boozer. I only wanted Boozer if the Bulls got one of Lebron/Wade and the team was ready to compete for a title. Now, I say no to Boozer. I don't want a 29 year old who has a great chance of being injured for 40 games next year and is on the verge of decline. If they are determined to spend the money, get me David Lee. Lee is a guy who is young, not injury prone, and is the same age-range as the rest of the Bulls. Lee has room to improve, Boozer does not.

Bottom line is that locking up Boozer for 4-5 years just screams locking into 2nd round knock-outs. I only want Boozer if Lebron is here, which looks very unlikely.

What kind of backlash do you foresee from the fanbase? I'm guessing it's going to be pretty severe/swift, particularly considering so many season tickets were sold/picked up in the hopes we'd be FA winners. Especially in this economy, people are going to be furious that they now have a $2000-$5000 investment that will be looking worse and worse by the day.

I'm with you on that. Where's the hard liquor?

Apparently Mike & Mike are going to make "the depressed Bulls fans even sadder" after this commercial break.

with the Big 3 gone, we should focus on getting some perimeter shooting and instant offense re a SHOOTING GUARD. not Boozer or even Lee. though Lee would be a nice addition.

So people won't think twice before jumping off a bridge? I expected disappointment but this is starting to get too much.

Reasons to get off the ledge:

1) LeBron is still out there...he is the real prize. Team him up with Boozer and you have a better team in my opinion than a combo of DWade/Bosh.

2) We still have Rose and Noah as a core and decent assets in Gibson, likely Asik and picks.

3) We still have cap space, which means we can be buyers at any time for any of the top players in a trade.

4) The FO cleared this cap space to get flexibility. If we strike out, they are not going to replace with mediocre players only to strap themselves once again with salary that will need to be dumped when the next crop of FAs come about.

5) We have Tom Thibodeau as a coach, unproven but spoken about highly by superstar players (Kobe, Pierce, etc). His game plan always gives us the coaching advantage and apparently he relates well with players so that is the perfect storm for a fantastic coach.

We're about to add an all-star PF (after years and years of pining for one) and yet everyone's depressed.

Man those expectations got so high. I think we'll embrace this team big time by opening night. Assuming we get one of the two PFs and a real quality 3pt shooter

I know this isn't true and it's not Deng's fault, but I'm pissed so please disregard the following false statements:

WE HAVE NOW MISSED OUT ON THE FOLLOWING BECAUSE OF LUOL DENG (and/or his contract)!!

- Kevin Garnett
- Kobe Bryant
- Lebron James
- Wade/Bosh (maybe)

Im still ok with Morrow/Boozer and hope that within the next 2-3 years Rose will get to the level of Wade.

It's like saying we drafted a bad player in the lottery. Never. Ever. Draft. In. The. Lottery. Again.

If we make a bad trade should we Never. Ever. Trade. Again.

You never eliminate a means to improving your team. It didn't work for us (or so it seems), but it easily could have turned us into a dynasty, and we'd be morons not to reach for the stars like that given the same circumstances.

Disagree, you sign Lee and only Lee. He can anchor your frontcourt with Noah and is a good fit alongside Noah.

Not sure the Bulls can just afford not to spend any money since they will already have to pay Noah and Rose VERY soon.

Sign Lee and try to pry Morrow from GS, I have a distinct feeling that no one will come here from the likes of a Mike Miller, Ray Allen etc. so I think they can chase those two guys and move Deng for Gortat/Pietrus.

I agree with this strategy. I like David Lee and I think he brings the front court scoring we need and rebounding. Paired with Noah and Gibson, and that's a solid front court. Certainly much better than anything Miami or NY will have. We could also resign Brad. Then we just look for a shooter to fill the SG void and a couple PGs

Just like we were about to add LeBron, right? I wouldn't jump the gun on that. New Jersey, Minnesota, the Clippers, and several other teams are very much in play, including clubs with substantially better rosters and owners with more assets for S&Ts.
