Who do you think are legit #2 (or #1) sidekicks for Dirk?
My guess is that Iggy is the best realistic player that we can add.

I'm hoping that Donnie and Cuban aren't thinking that guys like TMac, Shaq, Arenas, Davis, etc... fall into that "top-tier" category. Iggy is a huge stretch imo but he intrigues me because he is young, fills a need, has good size for his position, is an ironman (only 6 games missed in his career) has a great attitude, can get to the basket, can defend, would come with another good player, and we shouldn't have to give up much at all in terms of talent.

Add Iggy/Brand (only giving up Terry and Damp), re-sign Haywood and add a decent MLE guy, I'll be satisfied with the off season moves.
A rotation of Iggy/Butler/Marion at the 2/3, Roddy/Kidd at PG, Dirk/Brand/Haywood at 4/5 and signing a guy like Shaq or JO for PO depth would at least give us a fighting chance imo.

Does anyone know if Cuban lowballed Dirk or if Dirk left money off the table?

Lowball is a bad word but it is the only word i can think of right now

Dirk said he would take less money. It was understood.

I agree. And I think Iggy's ability to be a playmaker and get to the basket with his athletic ability could go a long way to helping this team in the areas we really need. He's not the perfect #2, but because his strength's go right along with our team weaknesses, it will make it quite an interesting team.

Dirk said years ago that he'd be willing to take less money to help the team, and I guess he made good on his commitment. I can't imagine Cuban would have done anything other than hint at it subtly, this was surely Dirk's idea.

Seriously guys, one super star is not enough to win the championship in this league. We need one more. Ship out those so-called "stars" which had been proved to be awful in the off-season.

We can get a legitimate 2nd scorer with DUST.

Roddy could be that scorer as early as next season. He has an already borderline unstoppable offensive game, just give him minutes and he'll be your second option. Players with much less offensive talent can average 20 points in this league (Brooks, David Lee, just two example), he has it all. Penetration, sneaky layups, shooting touch, touch around the rim, and a silky smooth jumper with range, and if it wouldn't be enough, amazing speed... Just give him the freakin' minutes.

Coach Rick Carlisle will refuse to give Beaubois minutes in favor of Barea. For Roddy to play a coaching change will be needed.

I just wanted to bump this thread in appreciation of Dirk and his loyalty to the Dallas franchise. Dirk is a class act.
