But isn't acquiring young good assets a fundamental part of rebuilding. You realize it takes too long to do threw the draft at one player a year. You can even draft a 4 players, before the first one's contract is up.

Klieza is only 25.. if you haven't noticed already.

You're assuming I'm saying Klieza is another Turk? I'm saying it's a good deal because he's not another Turk. Maybe re-read. He's no more another Turk than Alabi is another Shaq.

Yeah, I agreed with your point. If BC pulls another Turk-type desperation move (maybe with the TPE acquired in a Bosh trade), there will be plenty of time to hate it. I think at this point some of us are assuming that because he's still signing people, he won't be rebuilding, which isn't necessarily the case, I guess.

^ There, that took all the Raps-related optimism I have left.

Looking at The Nuggets payroll, they are in for $75 million next season.

Can they even realistically match, do they even consider it?

I don't think they will. They were fine without him last year. I think they'll try to get a big man with part or all of the MLE rather than going further into the tax for Kleiza.

I want to rebuild and tank this year because attempting to win anything would be futile. That's pretty simple, no?

Well I don't, so we have an impasse.

I mean we have a young team and adding a 25 year old doesn't change that. If a team as young as ours can make the playoffs or be in a fight for the playoffs there is nothing wrong with that. The only problem I'll have is if we are nit developing our young guys because that should be priority one.

Kinda makes sense don't you think?

BC mentioned a $12 million TPE in a hypothetical Bosh trade... the numbers match up with Beasley.

Now he signs Kleiza to a 4/20 offer sheet... don't underestimate the significance of that offer...it's a sign he's taking Beasley back.

This is why I love this board and this team... Yes I think soe of you are idiots. And I'm sure it's vice versa. but we're all about the raps. We got LBJ mabye creating a dynasty tonight, Bosh leaving us for MIA, but we care about this deal. We care about the Raptors. Whether you love to bash them on the web, while you cheer for them in your chair, we care about us. Once you leave, good riddens. Don't let the door hit you. We're the best board on realgm and other fans of other teams are checking our boards wondering why we stopped talking about MIA and Cleveland, meanwhile we'll have a 25 page thread on Klieze by noon. Where the online basket ball mecca. Everybody else are just bystanders.

From two weeks ago

Nuggets want Kleiza back, but will he return?
By Mark J. Miller
Linas Kleiza(notes) averaged 17.1 points and nearly seven rebounds last season for the Greek team Olympiakos. He also won the Alphonso Ford Trophy, given to the Euroleague's leading scorer each year.

Now the Denver Nuggets would like him back doing such things for them, according to the Denver Post.

The team has made a qualifying offer to Kleiza, whose rights are still owned by the team he played for from 2006-2009, according to the Post. In those four years in the NBA, the 25-year-old averaged 8.3 points, 0.7 assists and 3.5 rebounds.

Kleiza's agent tells the Post that the player isn't moving back to North America anytime soon. "We have no plans to sign with the Nuggets," he said.

I agree that a lot of the people calling for a rebuild will complain when we lose a lot.

Not me though, Ozzy. You can hold me to this. I'm ready for those Ls.

Right now, I just want to know the direction. If it's rebuilding, then rebuild. I can take the losses.

But what they are doing now is basically trying to put a 33 win team on the floor, with a lot of long term contracts on the books. There is no direction in this franchise, long term or short term. It's like watching a headless chicken running around trying to find the door. I am not sure what to say except that it's sad.

Rebuilding can be done without tanking, tanking doesn't guarantee a top pick and with this team, we already know the young guys are going to be getting more minutes anyways so what more do you want? What if Turk and Jose are moved and we get some young assets?

I don't understand the tanking bandwagon, it doesn't even guarantee the first or a top pick and doesnt' guarantee you get a good player either.

Klieza will likely ask Den not to match, becasue he's tired of playing behind Melo.

Yeah he's European, so what? Kleiza can play and that's all that matters. If Denver doesn't match that's pretty good value for a starting SF or a sixth man.

Denver offered more last year before pulling offer back:

Kleiza said his agent, Bill Duffy, will be looking into his situation until the July 15 deadline for Kleiza to pick up his option next season for $6 million. If a suitable NBA multi-year contract were to surface, it would be something for Kleiza to consider. If it was with a team other than the Nuggets, Kleiza could sign it and Denver would have seven days to match.

The Nuggets last week tendered Kleiza a $2.7 million qualifying offer to keep him a restricted free agent. Kleiza said he would not return to the Nuggets on a one-year deal for $2.7 million, which would be less than half of what he's making in Greece.

But what if the Nuggets again were to offer Kleiza a four-year, $25 million deal? They had that offer on the table before it was pulled off by Denver owner Stan Kroenke just before the Oct. 31, 2008 deadline for Kleiza to sign a contract extension because the Nuggets were about to trade for Chauncey Billups and take on salary in future years.

yayyyy more euros! I understand if a lot of players don't want to come here but right now it doesn't matter. We need draft picks then start winning instead of forcing the issue and signing anyone who wouldnt mind playing in Toronto
