Klezia plays with similar run and gun style in Denver.
Ask Weems, he knows him better.

Again, tanking does not guarantee anything. Again, the key guys for this teams future are Derozan, Davis, Alabi, Bargnani....all young and will be playing major minutes. Does Kleiza change the outlook of the team? No but he fills a spot on the team.

Picks or young players is the value we get back. Whatever crap attached to them would be 1 or 2 year contracts that are quickly off the books.

Kleiza hurts the ability to do what I described... unless he starts playing like the serbian Lebron or something. It's just BC trying to save face (and possibly his job)... just like Smitch played Bosh 40+ minutes to save his job (and thus Bosh's bad knees), BC is screwing us long term for the 9th seed.

You're probably getting late picks and fringe prospects to take back bad contracts. You're plan makes no sense to getting the team moving in the right direction. You don't get capspace to start taking bad contracts (even if they're short) to get some late picks or fringe prospets. We're already young and still lottery bound with this signing. Nothing's changed.

And his contract ends around the same time as a few other contracts so he could be flipped as an expiring later on. He's a good stop gap with a bunch of young guys around.

its not that BC doesnt want Beasely its that he wants the full TPE. BC would rather have 17 mil tpe vs 11 mil tpe + beaseley. Leads me to believe he has a trade worked out for the full TPE.

I like kleiza he brings toughness and grit to this team, he plays decent D gets boards can finish around the rim and is a threat long range. he reminds me of Jarett Jack type player
and this contract is very good as well.
What I am not understanding however is what is BC trying to do, it really seems to look like he will try to retool once again instead of going full out with the tanking.
with the kleiza move im pretty sure hedo will be gone, and can see the gortat rumour happening
gortat/alabi/ davis
bargs/johnson
kleiza/weems
derozan/pietrus/belli
trade/jack/ belli

this assuming evans banks tpe will get moved for a starting PG who knows who.
that team is a 6-8 playoff seed IMO

By the end of the day Bryan Colangelo will likely be where he expected to be which is large TPE, first round picks, Kleiza and Johnson... I would say this is where most of us thought we would be as well and it will be just the beginning of the firework show if that TPE comes back...

It's not that Kleiza's a bad player, as he isn't, and I'm sure he'll be useful here. But it's like having seconds at the dinner table when your pants are too tight to begin with. There's no need for him to be on this team right now with the way its constructed. If Turk and Calderon were gone, perhaps, but now, he's going to earn $5M to play twenty or so minutes.

I didn't say he is old. I was saying the team doesn't need a guy like Kleiza at this point :-?

Maybe we WILL take Beasley to be our starting SF, have Kleiza come off the bench, and trade Hedo

Sorry but anybody that makes it to the NBA is an athlete in some way shape or form. I don't care if he's white, black, green, orange or puprle. If he can play some ball and wants to be here then why not? He's known as tough player which is what we need desperately.

I don't know man, I would question that theory lol

I don't get some of you. The whining and crying around here over the past 2 months is how we need toughness, grit, players that play with a purpose and want to be here.

Then we sign a player that is all that to a reasonable contract and you are all whining and crying and complaining how it makes no sense.

This is exactly the types of signings I want to see more of. No flashy one dimensional 3pnt shooters with no toughness or grit.

We signed Amir, now hopefully Kleiza. We drafted two young grittier players in Alabi and Davis. We are reshaping the team into a defensive, young gritty and fiery team. This makes me happy.

We might not win alot of games next season but we will see a team with more energy, better defense and more toughness than we have over the past 5 seasons.

And how has *not* tanking worked out for the Raptors so far? Let's go through the checklist:
- no playoffs
- no top lotto picks
- no Bosh
- very little cap space

I'd rather be NJ right now.

how can people justify anything to do with the raptors we suck the NETS are in way better position even if they dont get anyone big out of free agentsy. they have money a good point guard and nice center a good rookie forward to work with and if down the road they find players to fill out there roster it will be a nice team but the raptors keep spending and spending that we cant see no end in side we will never going to get a star because we will never have money to spend for one. if BC keeps giving out money after money to players that suck and cant be traded then this will be a circle of crap
