re: LeBron's Tier I legacy, in his mind I think he thinks that all will be forgotten when the Heat roll off multiple 72-10 seasons and he wins 5 rings...at the end of the day, winning is all that matters...Magic / Bird played with multiple all-stars and MJ played with arguably the 2nd best player in the NBA...

A glimmer of hope, a slice of optimism from ESPN's Chris Sheridan moments ago on 1050 w/Seth...to paraphrase, LBJ has not made up his mind

Like I said Broussard said the same thing. I predicted this would happen and BOOM look at this.

Seriously I just want to pat myself on the back. Ive been nailing every development for the past 3 weeks. This is like a movie. Thats all you need to think of it to be able to predict the next scene.

Guess what the ending is?

Its great day to be a heat fan! Been waiting for this since I was 7yrs old!!" thats word for word

Perhaps Adande is right and this was floated out there to guage reactions. I could easily understand why he goes to Chicago, here, or Cleveland, I have no f'ing clue why he'd go to Miami, it's so illogical.

To me it's here or Cleveland. Anything else and I stop being a Lebron fan.

If he goes there it's out of desparation for a ring. If he did win there he would learn that he would make no extreme amt of money compared to winning in NY CHI or even CLE. It would just be win some rings and retire. No Billionaire status. NO worldwide icon. None of that. Look at the big three in and the Lakers. Kobe is a bigger icon then all three of them combined. By Kobe winning 2 as the main guy, as the leader he gained way more noteriety. Lebron can win Finals MVP's but he won't be the leader. We all know it's Wade's team.

I will respect Lebron if he chooses Cleveland, NY, NJ -- less so if he goes to Chicago and will lose alote of respect if he goes to Miami.

I don't even consider Miami a basketball city --- its just there ---- possibly the worst fans in the NBA.

ooo I know. LBJ disappears before he makes his decision and never returns.

I'm telling you, him not coming here won't be the end of the world. Carmelo has to be in play, we'd have enough to sign him to a max deal. Let's wait until tonight and reevaluate after 9pm.

It doesn't look good the Knicks regarding Lebron. If any of the info around is legit, it's Miami vs. Cleveland. If the Knicks are 100% sure Lebron's not coming, I'd like to see them pull the trigger on that Lee s/t with Golden State today, so at least fans don't have any expectations for tonight, and so we can at least kill a little of the hype and suspense surrounding Lebron's show.

I really hope Lebron doesn't go to Miami. It would be pathetic if he did. Magic, Bird, Jordan and Kobe are legends because they were great players who who titles in cities with passionate fanbases. Miami is a bad sports town and doesn't deserve a "new big 3." Lebron would be foolish to go there. One title in Cleveland or NY is probably worth more than 5 in Miami.

MSG shares hit on LeBron James news

Post#510 » by VirginiaKnickFan » Thu Jul 8, 2010 3:19 pm

NEW YORK (MarketWatch) -- Shares of Madison Square Garden Inc.msg/quotes/nls/msg (MSG 20.66, -0.91, -4.22%) , which owns the New York Knicks basketball team, slid 4.5% midmorning Thursday after ESPN reported that LeBron James is leaning toward signing with the Miami Heat. The stock had tracked much of James's free-agency rumors over the past week, most recently up 6% Wednesday as the market bet on New York as the two-time MVP's top pick. Reports suggest the team would see a 10% boost in revenue if James joined the Knicks

This is worse than a 70's soap opera. He has concerns with Miami now? BS, he already has his mind made up one way or another. But he might be seeing a lot of backlash from this whole Miami thing, he is getting slaughtered EVERYWHERE.

Cavs beat writer is going off on LeBron on Cleveland's ESPN Radio station.

"LeBron's not good enough to win a championship on his own....his tenure here (if he leaves) will have been a failure; the failure isn't Gilbert's or the front office, but LeBron's and that's how he'll be remembered."

Amen to that...I would hate to see LeBron wearing a Bulls jersey but I know that the people cheering him (for the most part) where there before the King came...The bulls were high in attendance when they were awful...I respect that loyalty cause we're the same way.

The Bulls positioned themselves to be able to get LeBron, and LeBron is able to sign with them now. You can hate the move as a fan of another team, but you respect it. And you then can respect LeBron returning back to Cleveland. And people can understand LeBron going to NY, for the fame and chance to win a title, and become a legend here. However, what does Miami say? It says that they think they can repeat the template the Celtics did, by bringing in two other players? Miami has nothing but Beasley and Chalmers on its roster now, doesn't it? Who is supposed to play center for them?

Anyhow, no guarantee that the Heat win anything, and no guarantee anyone wants to go there, for the minimum. Why would they? Would Wade, Bosh and LeBron all play 48 minutes night after night, and also face injury? Big Three in Miami is not a team. It is three players.

If he signs with Miami than he has realized in his mind that he is the second coming of Scottie Pippen and will never be a MJ, Magic, Bird or even IT.

From RealCavsFans:
Windy on WKNR just now:
He sounds completely defeated, for what it's worth.

- Lebron has told a lot of people he is going to go to Miami. Been in various stages of that for the last week.

- Recruited hard by Wade and Bosh. Sometime on Tuesday came around a little bit.

- There are a lot of people around him who think it is a bad decision.

- BUT until he goes on the record - or Maverick Carter - it's not done. Stressed this many times.

- It's possible he could reconsider, but advices people of Cleveland to be prepared for anger.

- Doesn't think LeBron fully understands what the repercussions will be about leaving.

- Pretty much everything LeBron has said will be ruled hypocritical about family, etc.

- About how LeBron is changing: stresses the left-handed free throw and the non-explanation for it - Windy says that is the first time that he said "come again?" about Lebron. Then the Celtics series, then Larry King. He was especially shocked at Lebron's "I spoil the people" answer after Game 5.

- Says LeBron thought Tiger's recent damage control press conference was a good idea.

- Feels like LeBron was a always a guy who had some problems, but because of his athletic talent, was able to overwhelm those problems. But his "tone-deafness" to his hometown is shocking but not unexpected.

- Most national media think LeBron is an absolute fool, but will cover him. Most casual NBA fans will be somewhat turned off, but will come back. In the teams cities that are chasing him he will have taken a tremendous hit.

- Nike is not thrilled about this because it significantly damages his brand.

- About sentiment here if he truly leaves: "If LeBron has left his house, I hope he's packed for a good long time, because he can't come back. LeBron will be radioactive here for a long time"

- On how LeBron will spin it: will dump on the Cavs roster, will say he wants to go play with his friends and win multiple championships. Then says he will go to a love-fest of Akron.

- On where Cavs go from here assuming LeBron leaves for Miami: The rats will jump off the ship, will hear tons of anti-LeBron stuff from the organization. "Hell hath no fury like Dan Gilbert's scorn". Have 9 million in cap space, if cut Delonte - will have 13 million. No free agents will want to come because of LeBron's indecision.

- Doesn't think the Cavs will tear down and rebuild. Thinks Gilbert will try to make deals to have Cavs make the playoffs. But unfortunately, there is no Plan B for if LeBron leaves.

- On Chris Paul trade: the Cavs have tried EVERYTHING to get him, but don't have the assets to get him because of trying to win title for the last three years. Says this lack of flexibility is a scar left by LeBron. In reality, the deal will not happen.

- Says it was an absolute privilege to watch LeBron all these years, so to have the opportunity to see him was incredible. But as great as he is, he is not great enough to win a championship by himself. The great players, he says, are able to. The real loss is that he could not bring the city what it truly wanted: a championship. So would have to term LeBron's tenure here a failure.

-Odds he ultimately returns: would like to say 1 in 5, but is really probably lower than that. Says we have most likely underestimated LeBron's ego.

Yeah the Cleveland media has been guilt tripping him to death since yesterday. It is pretty Bush league, everyone has to realize this is a business (including Lebron).

Honestly it's a win-win for me.

1) LeBron chooses us, YAY.

2) LeBron goes anywhere else and f*cks up his legacy, YAY.

Windhorst is always going to sound like that if Lebron leaves. The guy has basically made a living off of Lebron. If he leaves, Windhorst becomes irrelevant again. Yes, we can all have opinions about this, but Lebron doesn't owe Cleveland anything. He's an individual and if he wants to leave, he can leave.
