If the Suns didn't have Nash?

Post#1 » by rordog » Wed Jul 21, 2010 2:28 am

I've asked this question in other Suns forums and just wanting to get some thoughts on it, do you think Phoenix would be nearly as good as they are now without him? Or any other PG's in the League right now that could fill this position if he wasn't there? what do you guys think?

the whole team is built around him. That should give you a clue.

Nash is more important to the Suns then any other player is to their team in the league. Nash IS the Suns.

Should have really re-worded that...

"where do you think the Suns would be without him? Lottery picks? a 30-40 win team? etc."

along with:

"Who else would fit into this team if Nash wasn't there?"

but that's the thing. If Nash wasn't with the Suns, so wouldn't a lot of other players that were signed because they only work with Nash.

If you mean, where would this team be with the same roster minus Nash?

Lottery I'd say. Around 37 wins maybe? Although it would be fun to watch Goran play that much.

They would probably roll with a lineup of...

C-Frye
PF-Hedo
SF-J-Chill
SG-J-Rich
PG-Dragic

With Hedo running most of the offense, he could probably average 8-9 assists. Maybe average fewer points, not many though (maybe 105) and probably between 35-40 wins.

No one allowed inside the 3pt line I guess...

I would like to see Dragic play that much as well but I love seeing Hedo play there, I reckon he'd put up around 16 and 8 but still I was thinking around 35 wins.. definitely not a playoff threat.

It will be a hoot to watch the all 3pt shooting team on the floor during games this year. Talk about negating a defense. They either puch out on you or risk having Nash, Dragic, or Richardson blow by and finish at the rim.

You guys will find out in a few short years what life will be like without him when he retires. If I were a Suns fan, I would just enjoy him as long as you can because it could get very depressing once he calls it quits.

In a few short years, I'm assuming the Suns will find a replacement in Tony Parker or Chris Paul. :D

Without Nash.. well, we would've never gotten Amare, or J-Rich, or a trip to the WCF's. Steve Nash IS the Phoenix Suns.

Suns wouldn't be as exciting to watch without Nash although everytime Dragic plays he does something amazing that makes me go crazy. I honestly don't know what would happen to the Suns if Nash wasn't there.

The Suns first option in the summer of 04' was Kobe, then Turk and then Nash. Pretty good 3rd option. Kobe with Amare and Marion would''ve been good for at least 1 title though. I hate the guy but lets be honest, he wins championships.
