Sorry I just don't see Mangini drafting DMC unless it's in a trade where we move down and pick up multiple picks. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington are productive players who have the exact character Mangini is looking for.
Phillip Merling can be a very good 3-4 DE and a line of Drob-Jenkins/Rogers-Merling is going to stop the run. Everyone should be praying for Chris Long to fall but hes gonna get snatched up quick.
I would be happy with an 08 defense of
-------------(D-Rob) (Jenkins) ([1]Merling)
(B. Thomas) ([2]Erin Henderson) (D. Harris) (S. Ellis)
(D. Revis) (K. Rhodes) (A. Elam) (Poteat)
Sign Alan Faneca, draft the best available lineman in round 3 (Nicks if he is there), and look for a CB or RB gem in the later rounds.

We not only were undersized here, but the Jets never got great pass rush throughout the entire year. That has to change in order to get a better defense.
VERNON GHOLSTON (Ohio State, Junior, 6-4, 265 lbs)
Built like truck with enormous power. Good bull rush and very aggressive. Really excels getting to the quarterback. Can look lost on a couple of plays and has still a lot to learn.
Yep...for those that have a hard time envisioning that, here's Gholston.

Here's a interesting blurb on the combines:
Virginia defensive end Chris Long was the smoothest of the defensive linemen, running his drills effortlessly and posting an impressive 4.75 40. No doubt his father, Howie Long, is proud.
Ohio State defensive end Vernon Gholston put his stock in the top-five category by running a 4.67 and lifting the 225-pound weights 37 times. In other words, he's as fast as a linebacker and as strong as an offensive lineman, matching the weight-lifting performance of Michigan offensive tackle Jake Long.
Antonio Cromartie's cousin, Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie, was the star of the secondary, running a 4.33 and showing footwork few cornerbacks have shown in years.
Safety Josh Barrett of Arizona State was the big winner at strong safety by running a 4.35 despite his being a muscular 223 pounds. Top cornerbacks Mike Jenkins of South Florida and Leodis McKelvin of Troy locked up first-round ratings with sub-4.4 40s.

Chris Long at this point has cemented his place in the top three of the draft, so I dont see him being there for us. Golhston is interesting because he wont get passed the seventh pick, but can go as high as number two. Cromartie really dominated all the workouts but many teams differ on the top corner in the draft. Barrett will probably be lucky to go first day, either way a safety is not out concern at all.
Jazz: Under reconstruction, we'll be back.

Its evident, with the Sixth pick in the NFL draft the New York Jets select RB Darren McFadden out of Arkansas.

We don't need a QB IMO, we should give Kellen one more year and see what happens, if it doesn't pan out then try and get Tebow next year or something.
As for this year, I think we are getting RUN DMC or trading down, hopefully we can get someone like Merling and Cromartie. Merling is a safe pick while Cromartie has just been high on my radar since the senior bowl.

I don't think so. Everyone says Al Davis is weird enough to take him even after signing Fargas long term.
That and us signing Chatman. That makes three with TJ and Leon.
