scenario below IF Melo doesn't sign his extension

Brown S&T (3yrs for 9mill)/Sasha/2011 1st/2011 nyk 2nd returned

for

Ronny

this scenario we take back a some what pricy contract but given Bynum injury history it wouldn't hurt to have nother big on board and one who is fan favorite and is familiar with our system, great locker room guy. at the same time we clear Sasha for what is essentially a TPE, as we are sending MORE salary then we are taking back. NY does this to clear Ronny contract, they were planning on signing Brown for around this much anyways so I dont think it will affect their cap much. In addition they gain 2 picks, 1st is obviously late but given that they have no 1st its still vaulable and their own 2nd back could be rather high 2nd. With this deal we now have additional money to throw @ West maybe a little above Vet Min say 2 yrs for 5 mill with 2nd yr being team option. Thoughts?

Rip Hamilton -Trade Deadline?

Post#1043 » by Penberthy » Tue Aug 10, 2010 11:43 pm

Apparently Detroit is going to begin shopping Rip because there is now a logjam at the wing with the signing of tmac.

Would you guys be willing to do sasha+luke for Rips lengthy expensive contract (3 yrs 12.5 per)? Would detroit do it? Im not sure how I feel about it.

Would you or they do sasha+luke+shannon?

Dont tear me apart, Im just curious how you guys feel because I cant really figure out if the pros outweigh the cons.

Nope the Lakers are done for the summer. And the Pistons wouldn't want that albatross thats Waltons contract. And Shannon is the only proven young athletic player the Lakers have left everyone else is a rookie or 30 or injury prone (Bynum).

Post#1045 » by wfiles » Thu Aug 12, 2010 2:00 am

per wiretap.
lakers should sign him with the vet min. they need a fast point guard like him to go against the other fast point guards in the west.

Honestly there's no minutes for him and he isn't really a tri point guard plus he's a ballhog with limited court vision can't shoot 3s he's just an anti Phil Jackson point guard like my previous post :noway:

The Lakers probably won't get a young PG until next summers draft. I remember several months ago an NBA analyst either in an article or on TV called Ford the most selfish starting PG in the NBA so I really dont think he'll fit into the Lakers system.

Thoughts On A Trade Idea

Post#1051 » by kooner » Tue Aug 17, 2010 5:38 pm

Since most likely Carmelo isn't going to return to the Nuggets I was wondering if we should pursue him. His desired destination is the Knicks but I believe if the Lakers pursue him he would come to the Lakers. We could offer Lamar Odom, Sasha's expiring contract and Draft picks along with cash. This Would be one of the best offers the Nuggets get for him because damn sure only thing knicks can give them is cap relief and some better draft picks. We will send them a player who is a starter and can give them a double double every night and also some cap room for next season. I checked the trade and it works, What do u think about a swap of Odom and Sasha for Carmelo. I believe Carmelo wants to play for a contender and he would be a great piece for us for now and the future and help us contend for the next 5 years as long as we keep Bynum and Gasol along with Kobe. What are your thoughts on this trade if it might happen.

Just doesnt feel like they are getting enough value for a player of melo's caliber. trading a top 5 player for 2 bench players and picks? i dont think so.

it would have to be something closer to ron+odom+picks, which i dont even know if the lakers would accept.

Odom/Ron does NOTHING for Den other then keep them in medicority for the remainder of their contract, neither playoff bound nor bad enough to secure a top 3 pick.....LA starts with Bynum and even then Den wouldn't be that much more interested.

Melo and Bynum will be beasting after the Kobe/Gasol Era. And to think that we will be having a young superstar for aging Ron and Lamar, I'll do that. Kobe will also be a great mentor for Melo.

We'd have to give up Drew to have any chance at Melo, and even then it's unlikely the Nuggets trade him to a Western Conference team. Much less their biggest competition.
Thank you, Phil.
