I believe MIN gives up $7.6 mil of its cap space and Brewer to get back the pick, which is $15 mil savings for DEN .. quite possibly worth more than the pick.
We don't "give up" anything. We get two players with net positive value in return.
+1. They have positive value after factoring in their contracts. We could easily flip them for picks, in which case the trade is Brewer + player we don't want for three picks.

As for the trade, I probably wouldn't do it, mostly because I want to see another year out of Brewer, but it does seem like fair value in return for us. Denver obviously gets screwed by Carmello forcing his way out, and the Clips make out good.
Is it that inconceivable? Even if Rubio comes over then, he will need some time to gel with the team. Additionally, we don't have a surefire good-to-great player -- just a lot of young players who we hope will pan out. Love is currently our best player, and IMO, if he is still our clearcut best player at the end of the year, it's really possible for us to stay bottom 10 in the subsequent year.
