Post#1 » by BCamp04 » Fri Sep 3, 2010 6:54 pm

According to DarrenDreger Twitter- TSN says a deal between the NHL and the PA has been reached and they're working on paper work for 5pm.

Lets hope they NFL and NBA can agree to deals sometime in the near future as well!

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is not a labor deal that the PA and the NHL are agreeing to, it is Kovalchuk's new deal, right?

kovys new deal and changes to the current cba to stop these types of deals in the future

at least that's my understanding, not a whole new cba, just amendments to the current to stop these contracts from happening in the future

Yeah, this is just closing the loophole in the CBA that allowed these massive contracts to be handed out in the first place.

Pretty phenomenal how quickly this has been resolved. I mentioned this before, but I will not be surprised if NJ management and NHL officials created this situation by using Kovalchuk's first contract proposal as leverage.
"I definitely knew he traveled, but I didn't know they were going to call it. That was one of them situations in which a great player made a move...and they called the call. And I was like, 'Oh, man, there is a God.'
