I'm surprised how many people are putting Deron Williams in the top 10. He is an awesome offensive player but I'm not sure he is good enough in other areas to rate top 10.

Honorable Mentions:
Brandon Roy
Steve Nash
Tyreke Evans
Tim Duncan

I'd put Kobe still at 2, Paul ahead of Dirk and maybe Wade, and Nash instead of Melo.
If you want to try to measure the elements of basketball that are supposedly unmeasurable, spend a game just watching Marc Gasol.

Because scoring isn't the only thing in the game. Don't be ashamed, pretty much everyone who thinks that Durant is top-5 thinks this way.

Adrian Dantley did that 4 years in a row and no one in their right mind considered him a top 5 player throughout that stretch. There's a lot more to it than just scoring, and it's not like the league is void of top notch superstar talent.

LeBron, Wade, Kobe, and Chris Paul are all better play-makers and defenders than Durant, and more importantly, they've all proven themselves in the playoffs whereas Durant just flamed out pretty hard. Dwight Howard is the leagues best defensive player and while he doesn't produce as much on offense, he still contributes significantly on that end.

I wouldn't put Durant above any of those guys until he expands his game and starts showing that he can bring it in the playoffs.

Dantley seems to be an exception, however if you want to look at other players who have done that, many greats come to mind. Good point about the playoffs, however that was his first postseason and it came against an experienced lakers team and a great defender in artest.

Including the MVP voters, since they voted him 2nd.

The fact that Shaq only has 1 MVP shows how much knowledge these MVP voters should be given credit for.

Durants defense is significantly better than his rep

It's like there's a delay from reality to reputation and everyone is still thinking of 2009 Durant

And what separates Durant from Dantley is that Dantley was a black hole ball whore who took away from his teammates to score while Durant doesn't get in the way of anyones game

A) MVP != Best Player.

B) "Other greats have scored a lot on high efficiency" - True, but they also did other stuff, beside shoot the ball. Players who scored 30 or slightly under points per game with a TS% of .600 or higher - the aforementioned Dantley, Karl Malone, Rick Barry, Michael Jordan, Larry Bird, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, LeBron James and Durant. Two of these are not like the others...

It's a bit ridiculous that people act like there's a million things other stars are doing Durant isn't

The only thing he's not comparable in to other greats is passing ability, it's important but it's one thing

Don't pretend like Durant is Jamal Crawford

"10 best NBA players in order 2010-2011 season"

Every single player on a roster has the exact same stats right now. So they are all tied.

The only top players capable of improving in 2010-2011 is Durant, Paul, and Howard. Wade isn't getting any better, Lebron has plateaued, and Kobe has no where to go but down.

LOL wtf Durant at no.10?

Atm I personally think Kobe, LBJ, Wade are 1-3 with Durant a very close 4th, followed by D12 also very closely at no.5

And I don't get it - literally everyone lists Kobe in the top 5 but Pau is supported by many as the real Lakers MVP and best player

Yes. People who only look at stats think Duncan's declined but that has more to do with the Spurs having 5 players who could go off at any time. There isn't one thing Pau does better in except for maybe shooting.

Yea I guess you are probably right I only watched about 6 Spurs games last year but from what I saw he lost a few steps but still had his moves, his dominance wasn't there anymore from what I seen too tho.
