Awesome ****ing news, especially Mo. Doubt it'll change anything this season though.

Preki shouldn't have been fired... Another new coach is not the answer.

I'm glad Mo is gone, but a coaching change again will not help. Preki wasn't given a chance in my opinion.

They named their temporary successor - apparently he's solid. The team was heading on the right track, don't know what happened. Lack of communication probably.

As long as they keep DRo, best player by far on the team. They can make the playoffs next year with some adjustments.

Usually a new GM will bring in a new coach but yes Preki was pretty good and good with the media. The issue was more of the quality of the players than anything else.

I agree a new GM normally likes to bring in someone... But then why not let Preki at least finish the season?

We are not getting a new GM until the off-season likely, so keeping Preki wouldn't have changed much...

The players did not like him. That is a good enough reason to fire him.

We should focus on the Champions League now and give up on the playoffs. It is not happening this year.

Losing 4-1. We get to play Cruz Azul next who have a player with 7 goals in their last two games. That is going to go well...

It really does suck to live in Canada when it comes to sports, specifically Toronto. It is just tiresome at the moment. It is hard to get excited about anything sports related when you know it will eventually fail.

This team is a disaster...

It's going to be hard to follow them next season.

They will continue to stink until they find some diamond in the rough superstars from their youth teams...

Pardon the ignorance, but are there youth teams in MLS?

TFC's academy is pretty solid. When I'm bored I watch the weekly CSL shows and I've seen highlights of the academy's squad.

Making the CONCACAF champions league was a gift and a curse. Sad to say but I don't think many fans here, including some loyal TFC fans, realize the importance of the Champions League. It's all about the MLS playoffs for many fans and this squad is too thin to compete for both competitions.

I love Julian De Guzman but unfortunately Craig Forest was right in ripping him in last night's match vs Houston. He definitely has not lived up to the DP hype. Lots of issues for this squad to fix and there's no set direction. The brightest spots on the team are probably Barrett, DeRo and Frei everyone else is meh for the most part.

The problem with De Guzman as a DP is that he specializes in keeping possession, but this team doesn't really play that style. They prefer to knock the ball ahead as fast as possible and get crosses into the box.
Or just give it to DeRo and see what he can do.

Either way, a holding midfielder will never look fantastic unless he's on a team filled with players just as talented as him.

TFC are so frustrating. Every time I give up on them they go and drag me back in.

0-0 draw in Mexico. I will take it and at least we still have a chance.

90 minutes of defense, but leaving Mexico with a point is an amazing accomplishment.

TFC is officially done tonight...

What a sad season, especially the last few weeks.

Looks like the season ticket holders are pissed with the way the team is being run and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a lot more empty seats come next season. MLSE better not f this franchise up.

Yea I was an avid supporter of TFC from Day 1, but I was watching the collapse start to unfold from a couple of games back, I just no longer wanted to see them crash their way to the bottom, so I stayed out of the loop. Its just getting painful now trying to support TFC and the Raptors these days. I would say the Jays too but they arent that bad. They always have winning records but they play in the toughest division so im more sympathetic to them instead of disappointed.

No rush to hire Toronto FC's GM

With Major League Soccer’s regular season over and no local playoff matches to look forward to, Toronto FC can now focus on the future. Specifically, finding a new general manager and head coach.

Earl Cochrane and Nick Dasovic have been working in those positions on an interim basis ever since the club’s owners, Maple Leafs Sports and Entertainment, fired Mo Johnston and Preki last month. Cochrane took over from Johnston, having served as the head of the team’s youth academy since it was launched in 2007, while Dasovic was promoted from his assistant coach’s job to temporarily fill the void left by Preki.

MLSE chief operating officer Tom Anselmi told reporters Tuesday there is no timetable in place to hire a new GM, and that MLSE is negotiating with a consultant group to help conduct a talent search.

“The objective is [to find someone] as soon as possible, but most important is getting the right guy. And if that takes more time, then we need to wait,” said Anselmi.

He later added that the consultant group is “going to help us with, ideally, more than just a [GM] search. It’s going to be about looking at our whole soccer operation and helping us take it to the next level.”

Anselmi confirmed that the new GM will be charged with the responsibility of picking a new coach and will have to turn around the fortunes of a team that has yet to qualify for the playoffs since entering the league four years ago.
