Another Typical lions draft blunder!!!!!!

Post#1 » by kellmellus50 » Sun Sep 26, 2010 12:40 pm

Lions picked Terry fair ahead of Randy Moss years ago, go figure ??? i remember i wanted randy moss at that time and could believe they took terry fair. Then moss goes to the vikings and destoys the lions for years.

This happened over a decade ago...and we all know we were terrible at drafting for a long time.

What exactly inspired this?

I don't mind it that much because it is completely out of left field and for an instant took my mind off of the many things that don't need to be said about today's game. Same old Lions.

Whats next? A critique of a draft from the 80s?

Really? Terry Fair isn't as good as Randy Moss? NO &*()ING WAY?

Besides, many better Corners were taken after him. Randy Moss had all kinds of off the field issues that made him a risk. And finally, you're talking about the 1998 draft in 2010. 12 years later and you've finally come to a conclusion.

Wow, I never thought of it this way. Maye there's other draft mistakes they've made like Andre Ware, Charles Rodgers, Mike Williams, Roy Williams, Joey Harrington, Jeff Backus, Gosder Cherilus ...
of course those are just ones off the top of my head.

Jury is still out on the first 3 of that list considering the Lions never gave them a fair chance to play, so they didn't get a chance to defend themselves as good players. It's easy to assume they suck, and I would guess they suck myself, but I also would never count a man out until he lost his job on his own, ON THE FIELD, in GAMES, not practice. So whether or not they had any shot at being good is one thing, but another thing is that the Lions quit on those 3 guys, and some guys dont respond and dont produce when they are quit on, everybody's different, sorry that's not ideal for you, and really sorry that's not ideal for the Lions who chose on their own accord to draft them and not deal with them the way they needed to be dealt with to give them a shot to succeed.

Roy williams was not a bust he played well for the lions and got three draft picks, from the first, third and sixth round in 2009 from dallas

Roy may not have been a complete bust but the guy NEVER made plays that helped the team win. Never made the big catch, dropped a lot of balls BUT he did get a lot of action. I loved him in fantasy football when he was on the Lions but he had a lot of empty stats.

They did pull a fast one with Dallas when they traded him but it looks like they blew that first rounder as well when they took BP over Oher.

Can't believe we are arguing about Roy, didn't he just win the game for the Cowboys last Sunday with multiple big plays? He's going to be good for a long time I think, so long as he is handled right, which is to let him be a big baby and to cater to that nature. You have to be that way with guys like that or don't deal with them.

I remember seeing a funny interview with Marvin Lewis talking about Chad Johnson, and the question was how do you decide how to deal with him and Marvin's answer was something to the effect of, well we tried to deal with him traditionally and to try and be forceful and authoritative with him and order him to act the way we wanted and that style blew up in our faces so now we just pretty much let him do whatever and ignore him and let him have his stupid way and that seems to work out best for everybody. lol, I call it the Allen Iverson effect, if a guy is convinced that he doesn't need to conform, then he wont' conform, and you can either escalate it to be a problem or you can take the path of least resistance and just accept the pros/cons for what they are, and that way is usually going to work out better than creating chaotic drama, and distracting the player from thinking about these issues when he just needs to have a clear head and conscience so he can go out and make plays the way he is comfortable. A good coach knows how to interact with multiple personalities, and a good manager will not have these people on the team if they cant or wont deal with them in an optimal way for them.

And Backus and Cherilus I just thought it went without saying to even comment on them in that post.

Yes, I'm saying both are at fault. And I disagree that I'm nuts. I think I'm the opposite of nuts and I think you're nuts for thinking I'm nuts.

Charles Rogers was off to a good start before he broke his shoulder, which set in motion a series of events that spiraled completely out of control. They conciously overlooked his drug abuse when they drafted him. Now he winds up passing out in suburban Friday's and failing tryouts for semi-pro teams.

Since we're apparently doing this. I honestly think Rogers had a chance to be something, Mike Williams never. Oddly enough, Mikes back in the NFL...while Rogers faces forclosure in Novi. I've never liked the idea of a the local kid coming in 1st round to save the bad pro franchise. I thought they were better off taking Andre Johnson (before I knew how that would play out) and the Pistons were better off taking anyone other then Cleaves.

I still think we've yet to see how bright Terry Fair's star can shine. I predict big things in his future.
Tom Gores' Securus faced a class action lawsuit in 2024. The company engaged in a "quid pro quo kickback scheme" with county jails in Michigan which banned in-person visits in order to maximize revenue from voice and video calls.

But if he was on our team today, he'd be in second place on our team for most career INTs with a whopping total of 7, only behind Nathan Vasher. LOL
