Shockey?

Interesting idea.

He irritates me to no end, and he's overrated, but he's still a heck of a player. His major crime is first-degree douchebaggery, but I think I can live with that; it's better than, say, Rocky Bernard.

I should add: after the team made Alexander a pre-June 1 cut and therefore took the entire cap hit in 2008, I'm surprised this is even a possibility.

2nd rounder at best. Not going to give up the 25th pick considering OL is deep this year and possibility of many teams wanting to trade back in the first round for a 2nd tier QB.

Agreed. In fact I'm not sure I would even want to give up a 2nd rounder, given age, salary, injury status, etc. I'd think he's worth about what Darrell Jackson was worth a year ago, maybe a little more than that.

Well, our 2nd rounder is basically a high 3rd and we also have to consider that TE is a need position. But if TE is not a need position, I DEFINITELY would stay away from JS.

If the hawks want to win CHAMPIONSHIPS, the need to start by building a formidable O-line and D-line. As we all witness, Green Bay's O-line dominated our D-line in the playoffs and their D-line cause many problems against our Offense. Also some of us witness the Giants D-line being the BIG if not only reason why the Giants even won the SUPERBOWL.

Dennis Rodman irritated me to no end, too; but when he was signed by the Bulls to complement Pippen and Jordan as the PF/rebounder (the one thing they lacked), I was cool with it. We went on to win 3 more titles.

The important thing when you bring in such a douchebag is that you've got a team, and leaders on that team, who set the tone for how things are going to be. Rodman was about as far as you can go on the douchebag scale, whereas Shockey is just minidouchebag.

I agree about his talent. I am a little worried about receivers we can count on once the season starts. Shockey would make our other receivers better. No doubt.

I'm open to it. No first round pick, though. No way.

Why not? I call bull**** on the idea of the 'Hawks considering it, but it's not a bad idea if they do (so long as the pick's not a first rounder...I'd say a 3rd works, would consider a 2nd).
