Re: Rumor: Brandon Bass on trading block
We have many weapons which have displayed they can work. Why don't we just play Bass and Anderson depending on our matchup?
I mean MP and Bass are inside players, Q and Anderson are perimeter threats. Utilize this to our strengths, we have two big and two small for each threat (inside and outside).

I think you may have MP And Q Confused.. Well to be honest they're both perimeter players, but I'd say Q is more of an inside player than mp will ever be. MP pretty much waste his talents Jacking up the craziest shots I've ever seen... Shots that somehow manage to hit bottom half the time which gives him even less reason to drive or create on the inside lol. Plus when MP does actually drive he does something horrible to himself LoL.. (I know its not funny, but I can't help but laugh because he knows no other way..)

Ignoring the fact that it's not possible salary-wise, are you really comfortable with the front-court that leaves us? And furthering the glut on the wings?
And this is coming from a big Iguodala fan.

Say what?
MP isn't even an "inside the bounds" player, let alone one inside the three point line or the paint.

LOL yeah,
our only inside threat is Dwight and Gortat if and when he's on the court...Stan's system is basically a player under the basket and 4 that stay near the perimeter shooting threes. MP can be useful when he's hot, he's helped us win games a number of times already (and lose a few, too).

Re: Rumor: Brandon Bass on trading block
Stan Van Gundy said he will use both Bass and Ryan Anderson every game when the season begins.
"They're both gonna play," Van Gundy said. "It may be different minutes on different nights. But right now, in my mind, I'm playing 'em both. They're both playing too well."

i'd do that... i'd happily try and move VC/MP/Qrich for a backup big man to replace what we lose in them. even if it's someone like Kmart, Dampier, Okur, Murphy, etc. there are 'serviceable' big men out there that we could replace them with. someone like Iggy would be a BIG addition.
all that said though - i don't think Philly make that deal anyways.

Re: Rumor: Brandon Bass on trading block
If Evan Turner turns out to be a good NBA player, than I think Philly would consider trading Iggy .. Iggy's a very good defender, someone who's alot better at defending James, Wade, Kobe, Durant than any of the players we have .. And he gets to the rim very easily
But let me take my Otis hat and say, I still like this team

I won't say we don't need physicality but this board is in denial as to why we lost in the playoffs. too many players didn't show up. bass showed no game changing abilities in that series unless you beg for it to begin with. Stan has brought him along as I suspected he might (as with JJ) but its preseason. People are reading way too much into preseason play.
Bass may bring no 'game changing' abilities, but neither does Carlos Boozer, Paul Millsap, etc. Bass does bring a physical aspect to the PF spot that is missing when Lewis is playing PF. Dont get me wrong, Lewis brings his own benefits when he plays PF, but Bass is someone that can help Dwight down low with rebounds, boxing out, defense, etc. And he has a good mid range game that doesnt require 3 pt shots, but keeps him out of Dwights way. He is also a very good rebounder. I honestly believe he could easily do what Millsap does if he was given the minutes. I am hoping that SVG is looking at playing Bass at least 20+ minutes a game.

Pay no attention to these rumors. Stan is really happy with what he has got and seems to have his rotation figured out. Honestly, both Bass and Ryan have stepped up their game and it would be a big mistake trading either one of them. We create tremendous challenge for other team's defense while they are both becoming good defenders. We will stay path and revisit the trade machine in Feb.

i think thats fair. We have no idea if Turner is going to be a good NBA player or another disappointment.

Evan Turner's on the road to being a bust, guy looks like he wants to cut himself all the time. He's got way too much pressure put on him in Philadelphia.

Re: Rumor: Brandon Bass on trading block
Turner has had a rough time of it so far in preseason, posting a bout a 1.5 assist to turnover ratio, which is pretty poor for a guy who was touted for his ball-handling. However, rookies who make many mistakes often improve dramatically because they learn. Thing is, he hasn't really been scoring easily either, even in increased minutes. I think he can still become a player, just maybe not an all star.
