Can someone explain to me why Sabathia isn't pitching tomorrow? I know little about baseball but it seems obvious to me that's a horrible move.

Baseball is, by far, the most boring sport. It doesn't help that its season is so long. I keep an eye on the standings over the course of the year and then watch the ALCS and WS if the Yanks are playing.

Cause he'd be pitching on short rest, which is fince since he's done it before but the problem is that you would have to start hughes wednesday on short rest which he's never done before. So AJ is going to have to pitch anyway, so let him pitch today and get CC on reg rest wednesday.....

FC Koln, really?

Yea, but it is more like whoever Lukas Podolski plays for. I've been a huge fanboy ever since 06'.

I think in NYC metro it's still a very big deal. Nationally no. I would say football is way way ahead. I would even say in a lot of markets it's Pro football and then college football 1 and 2 with everyone else fighting for the scraps. Baseball is very regional these days. It's very coastal and popular in some midwest cities like St. Louis and Chicago but that's about it.

Personally I have to admit reg season baseball I find boring a lot of times unless it's a rivalry game or I'm at the stadium. But playoff baseball is excellent.

Yes, I actually care more bout baseball than basketabll.

1. NFL
2. MLB
3. College Football

4. NBA
5. College basketaball

6. NHL

EDIT: To be honest, I have been getting more and more into baseball the older I have gotten.. I have become less and less into the NBA as I have gotten older. Mostly because I firmly believe the NBA is fixed, and the product quite frankly is getting more and more watered down to me.

For me, baseball is a companion during the regular season.

We follow the Rays here, and they are on every night.

The beauty of baseball is that every game isn't an end-all, so there's always the next game to galvanize positive emotions.

I grew up listening to the Senators on the radio, as few games were televised back then. To this day, I am just as happy to listen to a game as watch one. The game is much more interesting and dramatic on the radio.

My kids have since learned to "watch a game" on the radio.
Basketball is driven by three principles:

1) Movement 2) Application of fundamentals 3) Predictability

I don't get why this thread was moved to general mlb discussion. Obviously people that frequent this board still care about baseball.

celt/magic game 6 2010 eastern conference final drew 7.5 million

game 6 yanks/rangers 12 millions

not to mention the nba doesnt even have to go up against college football and the nfl

so if baseball is dead...then what does that make the nba?

btw the phil/giants series is smoking lakers/sun western conference finals by an avr of 3 million/game

baseball is dead but making tons of .kaching..nba is all great but losing money

you're absolutely correct football is in a league of its own

boston, stlouis, new york, chicago are the only true basdeball -1st town left

baseball is very regional now...meaning most people will only watch if their team are in the playoffs
where as the nfl people watch regardless

This, also I do not remember the last time the NBA was as exciting as the game tonight. World Series on the line 3-2 game, 2 on 2 out, full count. The NBA has offered nothing in recent memory that can compete with that kind of excitment.

I absolutely love both Basketball and Baseball, neither rank above eachother for me. But baseball will probably always be the more successful sport. Kids are brought up by their parents to love baseball. It's almost like its a requirement of parenthood. Even though Selig isn't the greatest Comish of all time, (obviously) he does a good enough job with the MLB that it generates tons of revenue from the loyal fans that have been around for a while, and the news one they are constantly adopting. David Stern doesn't seem to grasp the concept of trying to appeal to a wider demographic.
