Shocker - Antonio Daniels will have his name entered into the D-League draft, he must not have saved his $$. I'd take a flyer on Scottie Reynolds for our D-League team, he's probably better than Lester.

Well, he'd have to use this as a way to get back into the NBA to make any real money. I don't think the D-League guys make even six figures. If he can show that he's healthy and has something left, maybe he can get picked up mid-season by a team with injuries and make a few hundred grand. If not, it's probably not even worth his while. He'd be better off trying Europe.

Scottie Reynolds' reason for leaving his Italian team was "homesickness". Now if that is an excuse, then he could be a good addition to the Dakota Wizards. However if that was a legit factor, there is probably a fair amount of home-sickness playing for the Dakota Wizards.

Maybe he's angling for a D-League coaching gig.

Magnum Rolle, our guy to watch in the D-League was selected 3rd in the D-League draft last night, Scottie Reynolds 13th. Picks 1 & 2 were Nick Fazekas & Alan Anderson. I haven't heard of 90% of these guys

I'd follow Marquis Blakely - the forward from Vermont. Maryland beat Vermont a couple years ago, and he was pretty much a one man show - trying to keep them in the game. He's a 6'6 220ish beast around the basket and what impressed me was he played hard at both ends - with an all business mean streak - and was very athletic. Of course, at that size, he's got to make the transition to being a perimeter player. He was dominant near the hoop, so his coach had no reason to let him develop perimeter skills. I hope he eventually makes it - the D league is perfect for him.

I corrected my post, I see that Blakely was drafted 12 and Reynolds 13th.

New York , Nov. 11, 2010 –– The Springfield Armor, the New Jersey Nets, and the NBA Development League announced today that the Nets and Armor have entered into a single affiliation partnership beginning during the 2011-12 season, giving the Nets full control over the basketball operations of and making them the sole affiliate for the Armor. The Nets are the second NBA team to enter into a single affiliation with an NBA D-League team, joining the Houston Rockets and the 2009-10 NBA D-League Champion Rio Grande Valley Vipers.

Re: Yet another D-league thread
The games have begun & the guys I am keeping my eye on who are not under NBA control did well:
Magnum Rolle, Scottie Reynolds, Paul Harris & Tiny Gallon
http://www.nba.com/dleague/games/boxsco ... 2011000001
Would love for us to upgrade Lester and Hamady for D-League stand-outs. I predict Reynolds won't last in the D-League & neither will Rolle.

Re: Yet another D-league thread
Richard Roby, who is otherwise famous for being related to Kenyon Martin and I guess maybe for being the all time leading scorer at Colorado if for some reason you pay attention to Colorado basketball is lighting it up for one of the smart teams' D League affiliates (The Rockets). The whatever their names is (Vipers after I looked it up) are the defending champions of the league and looking at their roster I'd guess that Roby will share the scoring load with Mustafa Shakur and Jerel McNeal. Roby is a pretty good shooter and if the Wizards ever feel the need to add another wing who can stretch the floor Roby would probably be about as good a choice as any.

Re: Yet another D-league thread
D-League? D-League! The Wizards don't need no stinkin' D-League! The Wizards feel more comfortable having their players learn the right way from practicing with the team as opposed to learning those nasty bad habits at the 'minor league' level. Leave the D-League to the San Antonio's, Houston's & OKC's of the world to inadequately prepare their players.

I would look very carefully at the 13th pick in round two. Dude was a stud for bowling green in the mid-90s.

Seraphin & N"Diaye have D-League written all over them. Christian Eyenga, Gani Lawal, Solomon Alabi & Patrick Patterson are all better players (Now) than Seraphin & N"Diaye and they are in the D-League. We do John Wall and the team a disservice by using Seraphin & N"Diaye as "practice dummies"

This is no surprise to the average fan who watched him at UNC last and didn't just buy the hype on him. Patrick Patterson is the only player you mentioned who showed in college that he belongs in the NBA, imo. I concur that N'D and Seraphin should be sent down for at least a couple weeks.

Re: Yet another D-league thread
Hey suger, thanks for stopping by the thread to check out the new post. Hope you like it, I'm about to lay some pretty terrible ideas on you.
So we're right about at the point in the season where it's reasonable to assume that the Wizards are going to be awful for the duration of the year and that there are a few players on the team who have been so generally and dependably lousy that even if doing something about isn't gonna get those wins I'm in favor of doing it anyway, only so that I get to watch Wizards basketball without watching those particular gentlemen. Thus far the lucky trio have been Hilton Armstrong, Al Thornton and Yi Jianlian.
I don't so much want the team to find players better than them right away (feel free I guess Ernie) but I definitely want it to find players who are not them. And because the easiest place to find guys who play basketball professionally and are not any of those three is the D-League here we are. So here's my challenge: let's imagine that the Wizards' decide they have a few broken bells on the team and decide to give up the ghost inside for the year: let's find some terrible D-Leaguers and and let's make a few NBA dreams come true...
Guys I might consider throwing a ten day at:
Kyle Weaver: A big, defense first guard with significant NBA experience and a little bit of a shot, Weaver could supplement Heinriche and Gil at shooting guard and allow Young to play more at small forward. Which is not a good idea, because Young has been much more productive at guard but it does have the advantage of involving no Al Thornton whatsoever. Someone to look at if the team get's a decent offer for Keanu.
Chris Johnson: Skinny athletic big guy playing for those other Wizards, and just about the only guy playing well for those other Wizards Johnson has basically been Dakota's JaVale McGee. And I will absolutely take any kind of JaVale McGee over Stretch.
Patrick Ewing Jr: Another guy with some NBA experience, mostly the experience of an NBA bench on his butt, Patrick has been pretty good so far this year and is definitely not Al Thornton. I have this from a trustworthy source. Might be able to shoot the occasional three if he can do anything at the NBA level.
Lance Thomas: Former Duke hustle guy who's been pretty good for Austin (the Spurs affiliate) and who sang backup in college to so many players with so much talent that he might be a little better than he looked at Duke. Who cares, Trevor Booker is currently endearing himself by running around and not being Yi and Lance Thomas is capable of both of those things.
DeShawn Sims: I could take a couple sentences to tell you about Sims and remind you that he isn't Hilton Armstrong but I'll instead mention that Manny Harris has stuck with the Cavs and that I wish he hadn't so I could advocate signing him.
Seth Tarver/Richard Roby/Zabian Dowdell/Marcus Landry/Paul Harris: Marcus Landry might be Al Thornton with a lot of acne, but I'm fairly confident about the rest of these guys.
Sean Williams: Yes, that Sean Williams. Yes I am aware of what a screwup he's been over his career, and that this team does not need another guy like that. Whatever, 420 over 4 for 20 on elbow jumpers anyday and Seans up Yis down.

Re: Yet another D-league thread
Chris Johnson (Skinny big who is better than Yi)
The Wizards are having a forgettable season, but the play of Johnson has been a bright spot. The lanky 6-11 center is tied for the league lead with five double-doubles and has blocked five or more shots in four games. NBA teams will want to see Johnson cut down on the turnovers and become more consistent offensively, but he is a promising prospect to keep tabs on in the NBA D-League.
Tiny Gallon (Bostons back-up plan if they don't re-sign Big Baby)
Magnum Rolle (My break-out pick who went down with a knee injury)
Aaron Miles ( I've like him since he ran one of our SL teams years ago)
Pat Ewing Jr is better than Booker....but we already have Booker....still like his hustle
Patrick Ewing Jr, Reno - Ewing continued his excellent season by racking up a triple-double on Friday against Rio Grande Valley. Ewing's field-goal percentage is dragged down by mediocre three-point shooting and he can occasionally be plagued by turnovers, but overall he is one of the best all-around players currently on an NBA D-League roster.
