Oj Mayo?

Its college and Barnes already seems to be more content to shoot contested jumpers from 15+ feet. Not a good sign for the future.

MAN! Scary...

funny his name comes up, considering i just watched "rebound" the other day. bias is like the goat in that all the physical tools were there, but none of the mental ones. to me, what makes jordan so special is lived through the hype and constantly surpassed expectations. that man was so mentally tough, it's hard to even fathom. not only did he live up to great expectations, he excelled individually, and eventually as a team player as well. he managed to overcome his own father's murder, had the mental fortitude to get his team to a 72-10 season, and won six championships. a lot of people look at other players and wonder "what if", but it's just so hard to find the perfect combination of athleticism, size, talent, motivation, maturity and competitiveness. michael jordan is the greatest of all time for that reason. every else is a what if, he is truly the living example of achieving your full potential...

yes, i love michael jordan...

I personally don't think Oden was over hyped. A 7'0 with the defensive ability as Oden is very rare, especially one that is 18 yrs old. Unfortunately injuries plagued his career. I don't think the blazers made a wrong choice, considering they already had roy, and it wasn't like Oden is a scrub that the blazer drafted for needs purposes (like the raptors with Arruajo)

Oj Mayo put up 20 a night in college. Barnes is putting up 11 points on 35% shooting.

What a coincidence. I just downloaded that 3 nights ago and have yet to watch it. I saw the Vlade Divac/Drazan Petrovic one and thought it was great.

There are only 2 teams in the league that rank in the top 6 in offensive and defensive efficiency: the Golden State Warriors and the Toronto Raptors.

I've seen every UNC game so far and I'm a Heels fan but I just can't get behind Barnes as the top prospect. He's not a killer, he's just a nice player--a hybrid of Marvin Williams and Evan Turner. Part of what's drowning his effectiveness is the UNC offense. They play a secondary break that makes it hard for one player to dominate. I'd like to see more of him handling the ball and creating for himself but even when he does that, like I said, I don't think he has enough of a killer mentality to be a star.

Kyrie Irving is everything we need right now and I think this season is a failure unless we end up with him.

Where are all the star wing players these days? The draft used to be full of them before '03 and now you don't see them anymore.

Its funny...

When I seen clips of Harrison Barnes in High School I wasn't impressed at all....

Just before the season started the guy who runs NBA mockdraft on twitter was asking
his followers what some of the big questions were going into the season?

I asked "Is Harrison Barnes for real?"

He writes back "Harrison Barnes is FOR REAL. The question I think is if he can lead a young UNC squad back to the NCAAs as a freshman."

I just couldn't figure out why all the scouts felt this guy was the undisputed number 1 pick?
Going into the season I had Perry Jones and Irving higher then him on my draft board and
some thought I was crazy.

Its still early but I still haven't seen anything that makes the scouts in love with him...

There were huge expectations for Barnes to dominate in the NCAA. He was the first freshman to have ever been voted All American before even playing a single game. High School basketball is different from college. In high school, you're playing against inferior competition and you can dominante the game. Look at how Eddy Curry and Kwame Brown posted up monster numbers in high school but when he jumped to the NBA, they suck.

Felipe Lopez

Chris Duhon was overhyped as well

I remember that Damon Bailey kid from Indiana, I'm pretty sure he smashed every major Indiana HS state record.

I thought he finished with a pretty nice college career.

A four-year starter there, Bailey finished sixth on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,741 points. He also garnered a third-team All-American award, first-team All-Big Ten award, and he led IU to a Final Four appearance in 1992.
