The thing is at least IMO Arenas has facilitated Young's offensive game. It will take a while for Wall and Young to mesh, but mostly because Wall is a rookie.

True.

If Flips logic of not putting Nick in as a starter is because he is doesn't want to move his cheese while he is working on building up his game and he wants Nick to be comfortable in his success, then I don't think moving Gil just yet fits into the strategy. Nick is really comfortable playing with Gil on the court.

I'm not saying it has to stay like that forever. Just saying I'm not so sure right now if the time to take away Nicks safety bankie.

But maybe in a month, as we near the trade deadline if Nick stays consistent with what he is doing, I could see him being more mature in his success and himself that he would be able to handle this more easily.

Nick is one of those type that you have to be careful with regarding his mind. He was a pretty immature kid when he got here. Turning him into a man and a NBA professional is something that takes timing if he is to get there.

Kind of like Scottie Pippen was weak minded before Chicago grow him into a mentally tough NBA player with grit and mental steal. Remember how he was so stressed out that he got a migraine in that one playoff game and couldn't play. They had to build a Pippen. He wasn't NBA ready Robbin when he showed up, but he had the talent and they brought it out.

I agree that Young's next phase of development must be to learn how to get to the free throw line, but I don't think he's there yet. If he can start drawing 8 FTA's a game, he'll be the next Kevin Martin, but with better D.

seems to me the thing there is about the minutes he is playing,
just by being on the floor at the end of quarters, and by being
active and hustling at those times, you can get 'cheapie' FTAs.
It's great to have a player who knocks those down at a high rate.

At what point will it become worrisome that some team will offer more than the MLE. Who are the teams that have cap space this off-season? I know Indy has boatloads, but they just drafted George and have Rush. Most likely looking at a PF. WHo else?

Wizards have full matching rights as Young is an RFA, so I expect he'll be retained.

Interesting, how much more cerebral Caron became when he moved to Dallas. Compared to the previous 2 years he was here.

I think he will be a top ten SG by years end...pretty easily too. The ones easily above him are Kobe, Wade, Gordon, Ellis, Martin, Allen and Manu. He is no longer a bean burrito :D

Nick, 30 pts 13/23 from the field
Wade, 20 pts 7/19 from the field

It isnt often that Wade gets outplayed that badly. Wade was on quite a roll coming into the game

Great first start for Nick. Hopefully he will be a starter for a long time.

Great to see you tsvqt! If I haven't said it enough, thank you for your service to our country.

I'd like to know what, from Nick's perspective, has been the difference between his first three years and now? Is he prepping differently? Have the coaches asked him to focus on fewer/different things? Just age/maturity?

Have a great time and enjoy the Wizards win!

So he has transitioned to starter and he is still balln.

Up to 35 minutes now.

Five game average 22 pts 42 for 84, 9-2 from 3, 2.8 rebound

Nick will lead the team in scoring this year.

First of all, it was GREAT getting to meet Nick Young. He is really down to Earth, and humble.
The answer to the above question was.......PLAYING TIME! He said flatout that's the reason. He's finally getting the playing time.....and I guess with that comes confidence. That was a great game to attend!!
I filled out 100 All-Star Ballots and won two more tickets for an upcoming game (Jan 11th vs Sacremento Kings). So, I know John Wall and McGee received 100 votes!! (lol).......

Food for thought:

martin,ke  PTS  REB  AST  STL  BLK   TO  FTA eFG%  TS%  PER
2010-11   25.8  3.3  2.7  0.6  0.2  2.5  9.4 .530 .635 22.4

2004-05   10.4  4.6  1.7  1.3  0.2  1.9  4.3 .406 .464  8.7

Young's 4th season breakout looks a lot like Kevin Martin's 3rd season breakout. Their numbers are pretty similar except Martin draws more free throw attempts while Young plays better D. If Young ever learns how to get to the line, look out.

Perhaps it's worth noting that Kevin Martin has never won doo-doo? Nick may well grow into a decent role player, but he's never going to be a central figure on a great team. No?

Tmac and Vince Carter never won anything of note, other than a lot of All-Star appearances. Not really seeing your point.

Please name all the 2s in the east that you would rather have over Nick. I am curious.

It's actually fun to watch Nick play now - at both ends of the court. I never thought I'd say that. He knows his role is primarily to catch and shoot, take open shots - and not to dribble around (like Caron Butler) trying to take his man off the dribble. When he doesn't have a shot - don't waste time dribbling; zip the ball around and keep the offense moving. He's keepin it simple.
