My dream would be Denver rents him to the Bobcats in just for spite and Bobcats think Jordan can convince him to re sign worst case sell tickets and then we sign him whenever the lockout ends and then we are stacked

I will be so happy if Melo is on Denver after the deadline. I would be SHOCKED if he spurned us in FA

Yep. Besides, we have Chandler who is playing at an all star level if move him to his natural position. We just need to add a few players until we are a contender.

So Melo doesn't kill us either way.

What other team with cap space would he sign with? If he's a FA...he's coming to NY.

I would hope that if that's the case, donnie has a deal in place to get McGee.

Gotta get something done before the deadline, would rather keep Chandler over Gallo tbh, and if we end up having to sign Melo in the summer that means goodbye Chandler/MLE

Here's my latest attempt...

KNICKS IN: Melo, Ridnour, Harrington
KNICKS OUT: Gallo, Fields, AR, Buike, Curry, Mason, 2014 1st, Two GSW's 2nds and Cash

DEN IN: Gallo, Fields, Brewer, Buike, Tolliver, Mason and 2014 1st
DEN OUT: Melo, Harrington, JR Smith

MINNY IN: AR, JR Smith, Curry, Two GSW's 2nds and Cash
MINNY OUT: Ridnour, Brewer and Tolliver

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=25rfb4f

*Minny absorbs salary with their remaining cap space, get AR while keeping their 1sts for a possible Mayo deal, add another offensively gifted reclamation project to pair with Beasley in JR...and get future assets for taking on the salary in picks and cash to buyout Curry.

*Denver saves $15 million in the Luxury Tax, get both Gallo AND Fields (who they covet) and rid themselves of the contract of Harrington and the headache that is JR Smith.

*Knicks end the Melo saga and can move forward with follow up deals to round out the roster, we get the pure point of the bench we so desperately need...and take on the familiar face in Harrington as a scoring option off the bench, hopefully limiting his chucking ways.

New Knicks Lineup:
Felton-Ridnour
Chandler-Douglas
Melo-S.Williams-B.Walker
STAT-Harrington
Turiaf-Mozgov

*I'd look to pounce on Varejao should we land Melo via in-season deal...Perhaps a Chandler/Turiaf/TD/Walker for Varejao and Anthony Parker deal would suffice.

Felton-Ridnour
A.Parker-
Melo-S.Williams
STAT-Harrington
Varejao-Mozgov

In the offseason I'd throw the full MLE at Shannon Brown to be our Starting 2 guard (should he decline his $2 million player option) and hopefully bring back A.Parker to the vets min.
Chicago Bulls

PG: Kemba Walker / T.Rozier / B.Wannamaker
SG: Donte DiVincenzo / T.Ross / P.Connaughton
SF: Kawhi Leonard / R.O’Neale / Caleb Martin
PF: Draymond Green / B.Portis / A.Aminu
C: Jonas Valanciunas / M.Harrell / F.Kaminsky

The Nuggets are reportedly asking the Nets for five future first-round picks in exchange for Carmelo Anthony.
Then again, an unnamed NBA executive may have said it best -- "Denver needs to get real. That’s not happening." The Knicks are still a potential trade partner, and if a deal with the Nets goes down there are plenty of moving pieces. The Trail Blazers or Bobcats may become involved, and the Cavaliers have a $14.5 million trade exception that might come into play. Follow the link for details. Dec. 31 - 9:51 am et

LOL, Denver is on a Rocky Mountain High, if they think anyone would be able to give up that many future first round picks.

Just a thought ... If Denver asks for a price for Melo that the Nets will never accept, then it shows that they probably don't think Melo would say yes to New Jersey. In other words, if they make it so that the Nets will never accept their asking price, then the world (i.e., the Knicks) will never find out that he is not going to agree to sign a contract extension with the Nets.

By not getting a deal done with the Nets, they can keep the illusion that a) he might still go to the Nets if a deal can be agreed to eventually, and b) their asking price is high (which may or may not be an illusion but it at least keeps their demands high for now).
