"I'm active," Knicks president Donnie Walsh told ESPN.com. "I'm talking to people to kind of find out what's out there. It's not like we're shopping or anything; we just want to see what's available. In my mind the team is getting more defined, so it's not like you're out there not quite sure of what you want. It's a little more defined as to what we need.

"[It's] not just bigs. We're looking at a couple positions to see if we can make ourselves better. But also, whoever we're looking at has to be good enough to play now. This isn't a future thing."

Thats the key that stuck out to me.

Article on gallo but just wanted to point out on the bottom that it says Denver is not very high on gallo or anyone else with ny but might be forced to deal with them or someone else if melo says no to nj

Are we really supposed to believe that Denver views players like Gallo, Chandler, Fields, and Randolph as chopped liver but players like Favors, Harris and Taj Gibson are the type of player they covet? It's just ridiculous.

I know he said no according to reports I'm just posting an article it could very well be posturing by Denver to get more from the knicks I don't know, none of us know what they consider our guys value to be obviously they see the potential i mean you see Chandler 23 averaging 19 pts. Gallo 22 avg. 15pts. And landry and Randolph among others

I don't think it's the talent they care for, but young players that are locked up for 3-4 year rookie deals. It's why they want picks and Favors. All of our young talent are due for a pay increase within 2 years.

yeah i said the same thing a page or two ago. it's not our talent so much as the length of contracts. they're right actually. if you're rebuilding you need to pay your stars first and then the complimentary players.

If lenght of contract is an issue then why was Iguadola ever mentioned?

I think the more likely reality is that Denver just does not want to deal with NY. And that if they do they want EVERYTHING.

they've seemingly backed off that idea. originally they wanted to get someone to replace melo. now they seem to realize they need to rebuild. if iggy is acceptable you're right though, someone like chandler should be suitable for their needs.

If that's so, then I do see the difference between Favors and our stuff in their eyes. But there was that rumor that they also wanted an established player so it's hard to tell what they're really looking for.

The part that kills me is if Denver feels that way fine but you're trying to tell me the 28 other teams in the NBA share the same sentiment about Gallo and the rest of our "pieces"?
Can't we move Gallo (or whoever) for a young player on a similar contract (Mcgee, Thompson, Batum, etc.) and then move that player to Denver for Melo? These dudes are trying to devalue Donnie's work and in the end it's gonna bite them in the a$$. I see number 2 and 3 picks from the past few drafts that have yet to contribute, what less post double digit scoring numbers--while our guys are producing for a winning ballclub and they are catalysts in our winning. God don't like ugly. These guys (Denver brass) are holding the Knicks, Nets, every team with a proposal and Melo hostage. They cannot prosper.

Yeah that's true. We should certainly be able to work a 3-team trade where Denver ends up with just as much as they'd be able to get elsewhere. I don't believe for a second that our guys don't have value around the league. I also don't think there are many GM's that would trade Gallo for Favors.

Keep in mind had Mark Warkentien (a Walsh ally?) been retained and Chris Paul not made that toast, chances are they wouldn't feel so adamant against acquiescing their star player and moving him where he wants to be (and sign an extension). It's just spite. Kinda like Vince in Toronto a few years back. We clearly had a better deal but they didn't want to deliver Vince to Broadway just because. So NJ got him for peanuts. These GMs are just babies. I mean you want Iggy? We can get him for you. Jack or Wallace from Charlotte? We can get 'em too, I'm sure. Draft picks? No problem. Cap relief? C'mon now. Jersey has a great deal in terms of draft picks and a good, young prospect in Favors. Take it then. Damn liars gon' get ol' Billy King fired again. There is no "better deal" to make because I believe Melo has already said to them "Knicks, now or in the Summer, no worries". I mean they are posturing themselves right into the very same back-against-the-wall position Uriji was hired to keep them from.

No. I think Wojina is in court trying to explain why he took money for a book he never worked on. So it should be quiet.
