Trevor Mbakwe

Is Mbakwe (Minnesota) the next "undersized" PF to make an impact at the next level? In 15 games this season, he has 9 double-doubles, and is averaging 13.2 ppg, 10.3 rpg.

He's a 21-yr old junior, listed at 6'8", 240 lbs.

Well, that motorcycle looks just as wide and tall as Glen Davis, so if Mbakwe can do that, I say he will have a succesful NBA career.

he certainly has the strength and athleticism, im still trying to figure out someone he compares too...maybe a combiination of joey dorsey and paul millsap

He's a junior so his stats aren't impressive in the NCAA at all.

Huh? His stats are pretty good and considering he's doing that in the Big Ten those numbers look even better.

You may not recognize it until 2 years from now and after reading 100 articles from today on point it out, but college basketball doesn't have the talent it had 15 years ago. It doesn't have the talent it had 5 years ago thanks to the DLeague and international teams. This is why juniors like Evan Turner and Kemba Walker can flat out dominate when they really aren't that good as NBA prospects.
Guys stats are inflated who are physically mature for their position or just have too much talent for college basketball. This guy Trevor Mbakwe is a redshirt junior who will soon turn 22 years of age. He's the equivalent of being 19 in the 9th grade right about now. :lol:

This guy is a poor man's Joey Dorsey.

How does being one year old than most juniors and the same age as some seniors give him a significant advantage over his competition? I really doubt you've watched this dude play. Because if you have you'd know that this guy is a legit NBA prospect.

I can see how that may be the case in the minds of people who aren't aware of the D League's expansion and the increased willingness of international teams to sign American players with college eligibility remaining. The last two affects college basketball more because it robs college basketball of the talented players who have experience and may have miscalculated their NBA potential a bit. Nick Calathes is an example of what I'm talking about. Left school with eligibility remaining, got drafted in the 2nd round, now plays in Europe. The DLeague is filled with those players.

There was a point in NCAA history where freshmans and sophomores didn't really play that much. How frequently has this soon to be 22 year old man laced it up against 17 and 18 year olds this season who will never even sniff the D League?

^^^What about the converse? That now because of the age rule, he is playing against 18 year olds that normally would be in the NBA right out of high school but instead are in college.

What's the average amount of high school players that entered the NBA draft? Not many. How many of those high school players failed in the NBA, but probably would have even failed in college? See you are comparing a small amount of unknown quantities to the known quantities of good experienced college players leaving early. See the difference? Samardo Samuels is the sort of high school player that would have entered the NBA. How well did he do in Louisville? Derrick Favors would have certainly entered the NBA directly out of high school, how well did he do in Georgia Tech? Let's not pretend like the handful of high school players with potential to enter the NBA(if given the choice) are lighting up college basketball.

There also was a time when every D1 college player didnt play a crap ton of AAU ball when they were in high school

Just as frequently as every other senior in the NCAA.

Ohio State got the win, but Sullinger was outplayed by Mbakwe on Sunday....or does it not even matter to Point-God because Sullinger is only a freshman?

Trevor Mbakwe, the Gophers basketball player whose playing debut was delayed by legal troubles, was arrested Monday night for violating a harassment restraining order, St. Paul police said.

The offense, a misdemeanor, stemmed from Mbakwe's alleged posting of a message onto a St. Paul woman's Facebook page -- in violation of a restraining order she had obtained earlier in Dakota County.

The woman reported the violation about 3:30 p.m. Monday. Mbakwe, 21, was arrested in Minneapolis about 7 p.m., and by 11:30 p.m. he had posted his $500 bail and was released from the Ramsey County jail, a jail officer said.

St. Paul police spokesman Andy Skoogman said Monday that he could confirm the woman filed the restraining order, but added state statute prevented him from speaking about the relationship between Mbakwe and the woman.

In a written statement, University of Minnesota athletic director Joel Maturi said: "We are aware of the charges that have been filed against Trevor. Until we know all of the facts surrounding the charges it would be premature for us to have any further comment."
