Did anybody really think that BS trade was happening? There is no trade with the Nets happening unless it is done without an extension.

I must say that the Nets must hold a record for the number of times a player almost got traded to their team.

forget waiting 5 years for a championship, the nets are going to win it this year or next yr.

Is the goal here to provide carmelo with different possible teammate scenarios to convince him to sign the extension? This is just crazy. All these rumored deals and they all fall apart. He's going to make fake deals with every team but us. This clown is going to burn his bridges.

yes it is. the nets must already be convinced he won't extend there without them upgrading their talent level significantly, which is pretty much impossible.

This is ridiculous.

I can understand Denver wanting the best deal, but NJ is delusional.

If the plan is to agree on a trade with Denver, then have the Russian and JayZ sit with him and try and convince him to sign an extension, then they are crazy. HE DOESN"T WANT TO PLAY FOR YOU!!!

He didn't wait 7 years to sign with the **** Nets with a skeleton roster!

At the end of the day, Carmelo can really have his cake and eat it too. I simply don't see what leverage Denver has in this senario. Denver can only temporarily deny him his preferences, and they know it. Be it now or free agency, he's getting paid in full. One of the primary reason's haters around the country (I live in the ATL), hate New york teams, is because, New york can offer things that no other city can. The plugs and pomp are in your face in the apple. Ask Amare', which I know Melo has done and can see for himself. He's not going to give up an opportunity like this, in his prime and in control. It's going to happen peeps, it's going to happen!

Actually, as of right now the only way he gets paid in full is if he opts out of his final year and signs an extension this season. Other than that he risks the CBA cutting MAX salaries.

WojYahooNBA Adrian Wojnarowski
DET wouldn't trade '11 pick, but would consider deal including Murphy-Petro for Rip to save $25M with team's financial woes, sources tell Y!

These trades with the Nets keeps getting broken up for dumb reasons. Too much Fake Hustle going around.

right i mean why are the nets asking for a pick here when they NEED det for rip to make the team look more formidable to melo. makes no sense, nets wouldnt hold up this deal for 1st rounder from det when they're getting an upgrade in talent back and would help them get melo.

not necessarily, there's lot of speculation that current contracts will be rolled back a certain percent to match the new cba. meaning all current contracts will adjusted to fit into the new cba. so basically melo's contract future is entirely in the hands of the players union and what they'll agree to in regards to old contracts. from what i've heard/read, nhl style roll backs on contracts is a def possibility, making "when" melo signs the extension irrelevant.

i think nj will end up settling for billups/hamilton without melo. probably prince would replace melo. they would also want wallace and they will get the other wallace out of retirement. that would be their blueprint.

I just want an end to this. I hope he ends up here. But I can not believe how vindictive the Nuggets are being. he gave them 7 years and I understand how they want the best deal but if they really f this guy around after he has made his plan clear it could bite them with future free agents as the players do talk. The Nugs need to tread carefully here as it is not just loosing him for less or nothing but not being in the market with money for future free agents.
