Thank the universe.... Rip and Chauncey won't have to spend their last few "good" years with WORST team in the NBA. 8-)

Who are you? And if you think Rip and Chauncey have been playing "good" of late then I don't know what you're smoking. And even if the proposed deal went through, the Nets would be far from the worst team in the league.

I'm a BB fan are you...then read this.

Miami Heat guard Dwyane Wade and Denver Nuggets guard Chauncey Billups were named the Eastern and Western Conference Players of the Week, respectively, for the week ending January 2.

Oh, but did u bother to look at his stats before that week? You know the stats for the other 20+ games he played. Oh and how did he fair tonight? 1-9 (0-4 3pt FGs). Yeah, sounds like pure gold to me.

Of course, I mean the Vince Carter trade came out of nowhere and was completed right away.. aside from that we got him for absolutely nothing. It's like if we were to deal Murphy, Outlaw, Graham and the Lakers/Rockets first rounders for 'Melo.

Well I wasn't talking the ripoff aspect, but more what you said, how it came out of nowhere and was done quickly.

Carter was pretty much on the block for a couple months and there were a lot of rumors floating, one of which hits close to home, that he was quite close to being a Knick.

Who knows if it got done quickly, Rod may have been the dark horse from the jump, but he played it close to the vest and got it done stealth like and professionally, even if the end return was the product of a trade genius and a god awful GM.

Billy King, Avery, this current FO is all about airing their business and showing their hand.

For all the faults Rod Thorn was blamed for and/or the ones he really had, dude was a pro's pro and the foolishness of this regime is showing big time.

Let's say this deal falls through permanently, how do you think this will reflect on future deals?

Every GM in the league has taken note.

We are going to be the losers in any scenario from this point out even if we're the winners.

Chauncey has been to 7 conference finals, 2 NBA finals , NBA championship/finals MVP, a Gold metal in Turkey, sportsmanship award and more (must I go on?). That is too good of a career to rot/end in NJ.
Sorry.

Eh, I have no problem with Chauncey if it's only for the rest this season and maybe the last of his contract, it's Rip I have a huge problem with, he's truly toast, with an atrocious long contract to boot.

You been drinking?

I know I have, but I'm not visiting the Detroit board tearing your crippled excuse of a team to shreds.

It sucks that we're moving to Brooklyn, but it'll really suck for you if such a storied franchise such as yours winds up the St. Louis Pistons, wouldn't it?

Troll on trollinsky.

I like the Nets.....I just stepped in because this board was ripping Chauncey for no good reason. And if he gets traded here I will be the biggest Nets fan ever.

would'nt it be just better for denver and nj to deal straight up?.

favors,murphy,sasha 2 or all pick for melo,harrington.

PG-Harris
SG-Morrow
SF-Melo
PF-Harrington
C-Lopez

melo gets to play with young talent, he can wait a year for CP3 or howard, get to play in his hometown BK NY, harrington is also from NJ. i cant believe melo would sign an extention to play with RIP, isn't the reason hes leaving denver is because there old? melo knows hes not going to beat the heat with a 32yr.

If you would have said this at the start, you would have had a much better reception. No harm, no foul bro. I don't think most people were "ripping Chauncey for no good reason" but at least had a preference to keep Harris who is younger and can play well when he's healthy and his head is in the game. We'll see what happens, he may be a Net, he may not be...

Hes 26yr playing with old players billups,RIP,martin. Why would he stay and sign an extention with a team that their best young player not named melo is jr smith or nene. If the nuggets had a young core around melos age that could contend he would stay but they dont so thats why hes leaving. Not becaus of his wife, remeber melo from ny too brooklyn, not just his wife.

King has given Denver several options: some straight up deals, others incorporating other teams. Denver doesn't want Murphy and his salary. They'd rather save money than take on Murphy's deal for this season. But the deal you suggested has been proposed to Denver (and almost undoubtedly rejected).

The latter regarding playing with older players is probably true as well. I doubt Melo would be all giddy to play with a 32 and 34yr old PG/SG combo. What would be ideal for Melo is (if Leon Rose is truly forcing his hand behind all of this) getting CP3 dealt wherever Melo is going. However, in reality that is next to impossible. The league would definitely say there's collusion going on if CP3 and Melo both end up going to NJ together in the same deal.

Well if the trade goes though...I know the Nets will make the playoffs.

No, it's called a deal. You take the good with the bad. You save money by giving away Rip's contract, you no longer have a logjam at the guard position with Rip and Ben Gordon, and you complain about Petro's deal? No, you take Petro, like it, and like it. Don't be a sissy King!

Yeah, pretty much. It's rather audacious of Joe D to even ask for a first or balk at taking Petro, but I guess that would be the smart move when dealing with Billy Clown Shoe.

It's basically both Den/Det knowing they can shove King like most centers can push Lopez around.

Although I think it's futile and Anthony would eventually say "No" to an extension...This is gonna drag on till Feb because our FO and Prok are too desperate to back out, even if the deal keeps falling apart. At this point I can't even blame them because they've already lost this team, so they might as well keep trying. After all they'd look like a complete joke if/when this deal doesn't go through and the same applies for Denver.

do not underestimate the inclusion of terrico white... he was touted by many experts as a top 5 talent in the draft and he is a freak athlete with a lot of upside

:-?

Let me say, I was a fan of Terrico White, but never was he thought of this highly.

Most thought he would go between about 20 and 30 though, it was somewhat of a surprise he fell to the 2nd round, although it has been said he's dumb as rocks.
