Let's say, for argument's sake, that if he goes to the Knicks, his chances of winning a title are 30% in the next 7 years. On the Nets, with that roster, his odds would never be better than something like 5% or worse. Many times more likely, no matter how you cut it, that he can win with Amar'e and our other pieces, than on the Nets.

So make no mistake, this is a straight swap of cash in exchange for any realistic chance at a title. And that's even if they get Paul.

Yeah clearly this whole thing isn't about finding a team to win a championship with. . I mean, Denver as is would be better equipped to do that than the nets - and the Knicks more than either.. it's about 'change' as he said in the beginning, he's ready to move out of Denver. . Now one would think if he cared even a little bit about winning he'd force his way to the Knicks, as he must know the Nuggets aren't going to let him walk as FA. . they'll play chicken but they can't afford to make him lose money over getting assets from the Knicks back. . I suppose 'looking out for his family' does factor in, but lets be honest, he has more than enough money, the CBA probably won't hit him that hard, and he'd be able to make up that amount outside salary in NY. . but that is moot, because I think he'd be able to force his way here with a trade if he holds strong.

'Sources', 'sources' they can claim stuff all they want but if the player is actually on board the deal gets done. It hasn't happen and supposedly deals have fallen apart a couple times before so my belief is he isn't on board no matter what his greedy agents are feeding him to stoke the fears of 'losing money'.

I love how the media is being used as patsies to further the agents agenda by now reporting Amar'e doesn't want Melo. What a bunch of dolts, really, you think Melo and Amar'e don't know what each other want? Telling millions of people out of the loop total crap and have them believe it doesn't change the fact that Amar'e and Melo are great friends who talk to each other.

sad thing is, you almost have to feel bad for some of them because they basically have no choice. it's their job, they need to be the first to say it, so they just say everything they here nowadays. these guys know they're being used, but they need to keep putting it out there or their "sources" can just stop talking to them and take whatever information/misinformation they have to another guy who will put it out there. and they never know when one of these sources might actually be right lol

Let NJ have him if that's what it costs. We beat a deeper Nuggets Team that was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaar more tougher. We can beat a weaker Nets Team in the short-term.

After Melo does go to NJ though, I'd like to see us add a legit mid-range SG and a Big Man.

i thought he said he didnt like that deal cuz it was a finance (cap) deal and not a basketball (ie skill/fit) deal?

5% is a very generous characterization of their chances of winning a title.

I'm not disputing your wholly arbitrary evaluation of their title chances. No interest.

I'm simply correcting your language that suggests a Nets deal "is" happening.

As of the moment, we know it has not.

If I was Melo perhaps I would consider firing my agents.

Chauncey Billups will skip Monday's light practice with a "headache."
Rip Hamilton went through shootaround for the Pistons, so it's possible Billups really isn't feeling well. It's also possible that he figures his days in Denver are over, and just doesn't feel like practicing today. Billups is also working through a pair of sore wrists.

I'm getting a headache about this thing too.

Does practicing really preclude a player from being traded that day? Not that a deal is happening. I just wasn't aware that it mattered whether or not somebody practiced before getting dealt that day.

Ahh, yes. He did.

A few times too. He said he regretted doing the JJ deal where he gave up so much.

I think that will play a part here where he won't want to repeat things.

The last big "headache" I remember is when we trounced a Jason Kidd-less Net team the night before he was traded--because he missed the game on account of said headache. Maybe it's a point guard thing.

Chris_Broussard

1. If deal goes through, Pistons will get a 2nd round pick from NJ for taking Johan Petro less than 5 seconds ago via Echofon

No he did not.

no just a lot of times if a player is close to being dealt they dont practice to assure they dont get injured

"I'll second-guess myself forever on that," Walsh said of including a 2012 first-round pick in the McGrady trade. "I've always wondered about that. I didn't like it when we did it."

There's no harm in practicing, if a deal is not final.

Oh no, I wasn't trying to insinuate a thing. Maybe he's protesting Denver's management. I wasn't implying anything.

Wow, that's quite a shot at Billups professionalism by Wojo...It's pretty irresponsible of him to even suggest that Billups would just blow off a practice and make up that he has a headache just to get out of practice for a day...What a douche bag Wojo is
