Chandlers looking at 9-10mil a season. Gallo has another year before we have to think about any extention and thats why he will be spared in trade until next season.

Carmelo is NOT a 2 guard. Stop it, please. Carmelo is not a good 3pt shooter or playmaker.

1 of the young 3, picks, and expirings is reasonable. It's exactly what the Nets offered. Why should we, with no competition, offer more?

because the nets were offering 3 FIRST round picks and we can't / won't even come close to that? not saying we SHOULD match the offer...

And the Nets pulled their offer off the table. We set the market now.

Exactly. If we slip up to a lottery team, these guys have enough pride to come out and take over a game.

‎-Q: Are you in on the superstar who’s available now?

-LACOB: The one?

-Q: Can you get involved in the Carmelo Anthony deal?

-LACOB: We’ve had discussions with Denver. And I think it’s possible. But unfortunately he clearly wants to be one place geographically. At least, it appears. And I mean one very specific place.

So that’s what makes it hard. You can want something and you can offer a lot to get it. But that doesn’t mean you’re going to get it. These guys have the ability to control where they want to go to some extent.

-Q: You think you could put together a deal that would satisfy Denver, though?

-LACOB: I don’t know for a fact if that’s true. They’re not clear. But we certainly… let’s put it this way, we think we have better assets to go after someone like him, that caliber, than most of the teams out there that are being talked about.

-Q: Including the team he wants to go to…

-LACOB: I think so.

-Q: That’s a major deal to be discussing. That’s four or five of your best guys. That’s a lot. Could you do this for another player or is he the only one?

-LACOB: I think there are a few players out there of the caliber that would be transformative for the franchise. And if we have a chance to make a move to transform the franchise to another level of success, we’ll do it.

Wow guys this was SO DIRECT from an NBA Owner. This could mean Melo's team communicates with these teams and tells them Melo is intent on being a Knick. Because how would he say it like that SO DIRECTLY? This has to give the Knicks major leverage because this is an Owner saying this .

The Knicks definitely seem to have leverage but Denver is being the spoiled brat who is refuses to play.

I would hope that Walsh can find a way to keep two of the three (Gallo/Fields/Chandler) in any Denver deal. Trade AR for a 2012 first, then Denver gets their choice of one of the three, Walker, Curry, 2011 first, 2013 first, as many seconds as they want, cash, and I would even consider taking back Harrington and/or Balkman using Azu if needed. If we are able to keep two of the three and acquire Carmelo, then we really will have a pretty deep team that is probably a big man away from title contender.
All-Time Draft

PG- Oscar Robertson/Bob Cousy
SG- Earl Monroe/James Harden/Dana Barros
SF- Billy Cunningham/Michael Finley/Chet Walker
PF- Elvin Hayes/Dolph Schayes/Tom Chambers/Danny Manning
C- Walt Bellamy/Neil Johnston/Darryl Dawkins

Thats where you start, my guess is they say we want two of the three. In that case i'd say you still have to make the deal, only maybe you dont take back any bad contracts.

No bad contracts, no draft picks and Afflalo comes to the Knicks. And I'd still hate a deal like that.

edit:
Well, I wouldn't hate it,... but I'd still be reluctant.

Doesn't matter, Denver is too proud/stubborn to except what's reasonable at this point (Gallo, Curry, First Rounder), Donnie is (hopefully) too wise to offer one iota more.

How many losses can the Knicks endure as Donnie stands idle? What if at the end of this losing streak that the Knicks come away WITHOUT Melo?

This is the ultimate endurance for the Knicks and their fans.

Then D'Antoni has to find a way to get them winning without Melo - LIKE WE DID BEFORE!

Guess Who Wants In On A Certain Star Player!

Post#1137 » by Ron1 » Fri Jan 21, 2011 2:15 pm

Please don't lock this, because I actually think it's funny but THE GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS are gonna try to make a run at YOU KNOW WHO!!!

Lacob said the new ownership group has already agreed that, if an elite player is available, the Warriors would be willing to increase their payroll above the current luxury-tax level.

Yes, Lacob said, he has been actively monitoring the Anthony situation.

"We've had discussions with Denver," Lacob said. "And I think it's possible. But unfortunately, he clearly wants to be one place geographically."

After the New Jersey Nets loudly pulled out of the Anthony talks this week, everything points to Anthony ending up with the New York Knicks.

But Lacob suggested the Warriors' potential package -- which would certainly have to include Curry or Ellis, just as a start -- is better than anything the Knicks could offer.

"We think we have better assets to go after someone like him, that caliber, than most of the teams out there that are being talked about," Lacob said.

This is all pretty radical stuff coming from any owner, but particularly from the Warriors owner, after the long years of Cohan silence and befuddlement.

Lacob said he won't do a bad trade just to make a trade, but emphasized that team executives have to be willing to embrace something dramatic when the right deal comes along.

"We're willing to do anything to improve this team -- I told you," Lacob said.
:o WOW!!

Yea "Before" when the Knicks were beating up on cupcake teams. Now, teams like the Kings and Suns are stealing wins as this team is hitting the wall.

In a word, DANGEROUS.

I'm not surprised. I knew a darkhorse team would at least make a run...but I DOUBT they will succeed because the Warriors are in worse shape than the Knicks.

Return to New York Knicks
