He is the highest scoring fourth option in the league, on one of the lower usage rates, plays D, is clutch, stretches the floor for Melo and Amare, is adaptable to any role asked, and is only going to get better. Him, Melo and Amare will have teams in the penalty within minutes every quarter. He seems like the perfect fit, either at the 3 with Melo at the 4 or in the Manu off the bench 6th man.

Didn't read the rest of the thread yet but completely agree with this. And I'll admit I threw Gallo into the "expendable" category during his absence (combined with Wilson's surge), but it's clear the guy is going to be a truly effective player in this league in a number of different respects for years to come. I always felt the biggest thing Gallo lacked (outside of a low-post game and rebounding prowess) was his consistency. But if he can keep getting to the line at the rate he is now, his shooting inconsistency becomes somewhat obsolete and personally I think it will ultimately make him a more consistent player overall, as defenders will start to become very aware of his driving prowess, which will really help him gain some valuable separation on the perimeter. He'll get a lot more open looks and will certainly open up the court on offense. I would be hard-pressed to give him up in a deal now unless I was absolutely convinced that it would stop us from getting Melo both now and later.

That gives them options. Chandler is not in the position in the league to demand where he wants to play. He is a young player that is going to be a restricted FA. The team that pays him gets him.

Denver would try to make the playoffs with billups, nene, and chandler. Have a young brewer come off the bench and have a pretty high draft pick for the future.

The question is about Minni they obviously are very high on AR and the curry contract is very attractive to them because it's expiring.

Brewer is RFA I doubt Denver is trying to lock up two small forwards(Chan and Brewer) going forward when they already have Afflalo and Frobes who are certainly better financial options than both. Brewer is not even a sure starter in this league. The point I'm making Denver can solidify playoffs this season(could make a trade to do so at the deadline) while almost getting the same value in return if they deal Melo to us in the summer.

Agreed about Minny's situation, they may value the pick more on draft day even on a trade. Matter of fact considering the SCRUBio situation I doubt they're ready to move their pick but maybe other firsts they possess.

But they run the risk of losing Carmelo for nothing in the offseason. What does a trade exemption do for you? Denver in this trade would get 2 decent young players to help them make a playoff push this year. Plus the get a draft pick which is what they really want. That pick should net them a really good player to sell to the fan base and they save money.

I think Denver is seeing what happened to the Cavs and saying we can't let this happen to us and have no leverage since melo has stated its the knicks and only the knicks

Are people really talking about hiring Lawrence frank?

WTF?

Last year he lead the nets to nearly the worst record ever

Totally overrated.

His best years were because he let Kidd, Martin and co run their game. He's no JVG and he's no Dantoni

The other thing you could do is try to offer a king's ransom to get Popovich.

I guess you wouldn't even get the Spurs to entertain that but if you got Melo/Amar'e, you could see if the Spurs would allow you to get to Pop.

No rules about money with coaching so get Dolan to pay $10M to the Spurs to break Popovich's contract and then pay Popovich a huge sum to get him to coach the Knicks.

Best coach in the NBA and would provide a potentially decisive advantage over the cHeat.

Long shot. Jus sayin.

He is no D'Antoni. That's why I want him so badly.

Frank won't get a HC spot for another year or two. He's a sub .500 coach. If we get Melo we have a chance at advancing past the first round. Without him we don't, no matter who the coach is. Get hold of yourself.

Question. If we get Melo via this deal and then the offseason comes and Wilson decides to leave DEN, could we bring him back with a MLE?

This wouldn't be robbery since Melo can just walk away and leave Denver with NOTHING in a few months. All I ask is they wait until my new PS3 arrives from Amazon so I can practice using Melo...

This deal sounds too good to be true to be honest.

Can someone explain to me how Denver is saving $20M or $25M which I think has been stated in the last few pages?

From a cash out the door perspective - haven't they already paid Melo the bulk of his 10/11 salary already? If he were making $20M a year and we're 3/4 way thru season would they only owe him around $5M.

Not getting the savings part of the deal...

Also wondering does Denver really view Corey Brewer highly?

Personally I like what Khan's doing -- he was right on Love and Beasley from a talent perspective and in this deal he takes on Eddy's expiring payments for a few months, gets rid of a spare part in Brewer and a pretty good #1 pick but he gets a VERY TALENTED young big to add to the mix in Minny. You have to give him credit for being creative and going for TALENT. You could make the argument that Love, Beasley and Randolph are three of the top 15 young talented players in the league.

Ah, he started off 0-16 with the Nyets. Popovich would have *maybe* been 2-14. The Pat Riley of Lakers would have been 3-13 at best. These are the 09-10 Nets we're talking about.

Phil Jackson (a free agent) looks Eastward towards Manhattan Island and looks at an opportunity to absolutely cement his legacy as the greatest coach in NBA history.
